i'm in the book store buying my C# book and i see "asp.net" and on the back it says it has something to with this whole .net thing, i see another book called "programmers to programmers .net" and it says it explains .net or something like that. looking in my C# book it says ".........C as well as other .net languages"

WTF IS .NET?!?!?!?!

.Net defin depends on who you ask.

Personally I see .Net as being the entire framework and development platform for the new version of Visual Studio.

'.Net' is a bit of a marketing term though, everything from hotmail to the server edition of Windwos XP are going to be branded with it. Bit silly really but thats marketing.

C# is part of .Net framework, so in learning C# you will come to understand .Net (now wasn't that deep )

If you are interested you should just grap a good looking book and start reading up on it.

Only if you got the second edition! I [tried] to read the first edition, but it was so riddled with errors I was forced to look elsewhere. I also read "Programming C#" from Wrox, and it was also riddled with errors. Granted this was pre-.NET release, but still...

Rather than provide YAD (yet another definition) of .NET, I suggest reading the documentation to get it "from the horse's mouth". Perhaps then, you will find that .NET is your panacean solution to your universe.
