 Me too. If I don't win, it wasn't worth it. I really don't understand sniping. My only guess is that those who use it aren't able to put a maximum price that they are willing to pay on an item, or are bidding on multiple items at the same time.

Seriously, I don't see any benefit from it. If I see an auction that has 3 days left, I'll bid my max and leave it at that. If I don't win then I wouldn't have bought it anyways.....

People have already explained it. If you can't grasp such a simple simple concept, I suggest finding someone extremely reliable to take care of your money for you, because you are quite hopeless.

The day I regret a buy on ebay even the tiniest bit because "I'm losing mad money by not sniping y0", I'll contact you to take care of my money

He's saying you could get the items you want for less than your maximum.

I usually do... When I lose, it's normally way more than I was willing to pay anyways....even when I snipe. Same consequences either way for the amount and type of stuff I buy. So don't try to force your one and only "uber" way of bidding on everyone.

Umm, it has to do with the more efficient and effective way to buy something on ebay. If you want to do something that drives up the bid you are trying to win, feel free to do so! As I said, I call it being a sucker.

If you can stop assuming that I'm always paying more than I would have if I sniped I would appreciate it. K Thanks. There will always be people driving up the price whether they be snipers or "noobs". But yes, sniping might be more effective, but not by very much. Whatever gets you off and makes you feel superior to the rest of the anonymous world wide web. The fact that you have to try and belittle people at the end of all your comments just shows how ignorant and naive you are.

Someone that encourages bidding wars are suckers.. it has nothing to do with belittling others... Why pay more than you have to? Suckers pay more than they have to and call it logical.

And yes, you would 99% of the time pay more than if you had "sniped." The only exception is if there is a super high bidder or no one else bids on the item whatsoever.

So you dismiss logic... as I said... sucker...

If you preorder something at 30 dollars and I wait until the day it comes out and pay 15 dollars... and I call you a sucker... is that "belittling" you?

If I know I am not going to get an item due to someone else's higher bid, then I will mess with it at the last minute to drive the price up for them.

somethin ive also had a little success with is bidding on items with wierd spelling or checking for mistakes in syntax or not browsing to the area the item is supposed to be sold in. Catch things that no one else finds so they have very few bidders.

Good bargains are getting harder to find on the Ebay now anyways. For the seller, it's actually more advantageous because of larger buyer market. Buyers can usually find better value on craig's list *used* items (excluding technology because online dealers are usually very competitive, well not for *common* technology items such as video card/router/motherboard).

Smarter bidder bid once and leave at that. Unfortunately not many ebay bidders are like that. Sometimes people are compulsive bidder when they really wants an item and would really like it soon. At which case you should be trying to find another source instead. Because when someone place a bid and they keep a watch on it, the longer they watch the bid item the more likely they are willing to pay more for it. Snipping does help with getting a better price when bidding against people who are compulsive bidders. You do not want to compete to buy an item because you'll end up paying more for it.

There are just too many good technology deals that start on bargains site and people trying to sell them on the ebay. It goes to show that finding good bargains on common technology items on the ebay usually means lot more work.
