Brutal hot out again today! 31C. Went outside on my break to test my portable solar setup to do a discharge test. Had my phone with me so I can keep track of time and it thermally shut off within a few minutes just being outside. The solar cabinet was not doing too well either, charge controller temp was 49C. Battery discharging way faster than it should too, I suspect I have an issue with the battery as it gave me bad vibes even before I did this test but I do wonder if the temps are also playing a role. It doesn't seem to hold a charge. Will drop fast, then go right back up to full within a few minutes. Seems suspect.
This is something I may have to keep in mind when working on my off grid property... will be relying a lot on battery powered tools, and they don't like the heat. I may need a small fridge to charge batteries in until I build a permanent building with AC. I wouldn't want to be charging tool batteries in these temps. Although in the bush and in the shade it might not be as bad. I find trees almost have a cooling effect. Even in town I can actually feel cold spots at the ground when walking under a big tree.
