Depends on your point of view.
The Satanic Temple have a rather healthy view on the matter. Completely chill with their concept of Satan.
The church of satan? F them.
As we move into various traditional theistic viewpoint points, Lucifer starts to bounce around. In some, Satan is completely justified for rebelling against God's cruel and unjust rule. In others, he corrupts everything.
For the literalist, it becomes quite entertaining. A literal take on the traditional garden of Eden story has Lucifer doing the final and greatest act of creation uplifting humanity. With man and woman unable to make moral decisions prior to consuming the tree of knowledge, the outcome is inevitable once Lucifer initiates the last step, with humanity unable to resist, with the outcome of humanity gaining awareness of self (see need to cloth self) and morality.
In others, Lucifer and God become more of a metaphoric, God becomes more of a persuasive power. Sometimes, in these theodicies, the system of domination, the overwhelming societal force of inequality created by humanity that creates desperation and pushes humanity towards evil actions which in turn reinforces said system stands in as Lucifer. I would argue in these understandings, Lucifer is indeed quite evil in a rather metaphoric way.
