I think you just contradicted yourself. A main point of the black album is that it is one of the best recorded rock albums of all time.

I think he means in terms of quality of the content, not quality of the recording.

Ahh the younger generation of rock fans. They like two types of rock.

Type 1: Whiney, shrill voiced teenage sounding emo punks who sing about how bad their life is, no one likes them, they feel sorry for themselves. These bands usualy play three cords over and over.

Type 2: Angry skin head brawler wannabes who grunt lowdly into the mic for most of the song. They play the same three cords as above, but much faster and all distorted sounding.

Both of which suck ass. If the song isn't about their mommy not loving them, hating the 8th grade or not being popular with the ladiest hey don't want to hear it.

Metallica does suck, that's why they're such assholes. If they were any good, they wouldn't have to complain like babies.

Anyway, if you're a "musician" that feels like you deserve to live like a king off of only your musical income, you're not a real musician.

You know what's the most amazing part? You don't actually make a lot of money off of music sales, most of the profit comes from live shows. The rest of the money (from merchandise and CD's) mostly goes to the record label you've agreed to get fucked by. Metallica was just told by their record company to get pissed off about piracy, even though they didn't actually loose a lot of profit from it. Prove me wrong assholes.

I just saw The Last Samurai and enjoyed it. Tom Cruise is a fine actor. I also just saw Apocalypto and thought it was awesome. Mel Gibson is a fine director. I don't give a shit what they do outside of acting and directing, I'm there to watch a movie.

Thrash era? Anacrusis, Coroner, Destruction, Exodus, and Megadeth, to name only bands with at least as many thrash albums as Metallica has done. Post-thrash/mainstream era? Flotsam & Jetsam and Megadeth again.

They f'd up the bass, under-toning the guitar, but then emphasizing the kick drum. It's f'ing obvious to anybody that it's a poorly mixed album.

So you don't need a high-end audio system to notice things like this? Sometimes I feel like I have been too exposed to "modern", over-processsed music, because I didn't think AJFA sounded particularly different from their other albums of that era. I certainly wouldn't have been able to pick out the critiques you listed.

Heck, I didn't even realize what compression was, and to what extent it is used in music today until someone on AT posted some tracks on here with a high dynamic range.
