It wasn't a "self titled debut" as they had been out for a very long time before that.
Sorry, I got confused. But my point remains that the Black album is the shit.
Black can't hold a candle to the three before it. I'll take AJFA (nevermind the f'd mixing) any day.
What's wrong with the mixing in AJFA?
They f'd up the bass, under-toning the guitar, but then emphasizing the kick drum. It's f'ing obvious to anybody that it's a poorly mixed album.
How does Justice differ from Puppets?
?It?s a lot? ? begins Ulrich.
?Drier,? continues Hetfield.
?A lot drier, and a lot more?
?In your face,? Hetfield pipes in again. ?Everything?s way up front and there?s not a lot of ?verb or echo. We really went out of our way to make sure that what we put on the tape was that we wanted, so the mixing procedure would be as easy as possible and not like the old saying, ?We?ll save it in the mix.??
?Puppets was very well recorded,? says Ulrich, ?and had a very huge sort of sound, but didn?t really fuckin? come out of the speakers and hit you in the face.?
?Compared to Ride the Lightning it did,? Hetfield reminds him.
?I don?t want to listen to Ride the Lightning,? groans Ulrich.
?Flemming was in a reverb daze,? explains Hetfield.
Did the experience of recording The $5.98 EP affect Justice?s sound?
?I think we were pretty pleased with the way it was so upfront and raw,? reckons Hetfield.
?We learned something from that mix,? says Ulrich.
?We learned that the bass is too loud,? says Hetfield.
?And when is the bass too loud?? chants Ulrich.
Together: ?When you can hear it!?

Disturbed, System of a Down, Slipknot, Deftones, Godsmack, KoRn, Rob Zombie
Oh and before you play the "playing the guitar really fast means its good music" card...
Dragonforce.

Disturbed, no.
System of a down. You are fucking kidding me right? That whiny Serb can DIAF.
Slipknot, two drummers later, and they still suck.
Deftones, no.
Godsmack, that 5 ft nothing piece of shit singing about tough and angry he is, laughable. However, I do like their tone, and their live stuff is pretty damn good.
Korn...they suck live.
Rob Zombie, I never understood the Zombie fetish, at the very most he had some 'catchy' tunes. And his movies suck.

Metallica is horrible. Their music sucks, and they should DIAF.

You do realize that Tom Araya is actually a Catholic and only writes/sings the Slayer material because it sells, right?Originally posted by: 1sikbITCH

Wow.
You should know it's quite possible that Tom Araya has now commanded the demons of hell to come through your monitor and rip your soul right out through your face

I hate it when people criticize bands like Linkin Park for using too much "computers" in their music, and not having "talent." LISTEN DUMBFUCK, IT SOUNDS GOOD. NO ONE CARES IF YOUR FUCKING INDIE BAND PLAYS WITH WHATEVER GUITAR. THE END IS WHAT MATTERS, IT'S MUSIC!
Who seriously listens to bands because they do philanthropic or other wierd hippy shit? No one. I could careless if ROBOTS made music, as long as it was good. I don't care what the band looks like, or any of that.
/not a rant.

Well that's convenient. So the Catholic religion only prohibits you from writing the songs, but not from actually singing them to millions of people and profiting from the defamation of God and Jesus and all that other crap.
Sounds like one hell of a religion.

It really has nothing to do with Catholicism, but his beliefs. Tom is not going to write anti god/satanic lyrics. I'm sure most in the Catholic religion will realize that is just an excuse. But look at their side. As things are, and as he and his bandmates have said in interviews, if they let Tom write "pro god" or christian music, they would be broke, as God doesn't sell. They are musicians who try to make a living in a cutthroat industry. You have to do what it takes. Even if you personally disagree with it. Tom wrote a song on South of Heaven that was prolife.

Still doesn't change my view that Metallica and Slayer are not even near the same genre of music. Speed metal |= hard rock (did I do that right?). That's like saying there is no difference between Hank Williams Jr and Gene Autry.

Which band is speed metal and which is hard rock?
