When GoW2 was released I decided to play it, upscaled, via my PS3. It was nice. So when you do decided to sit down with the game (and I highly recommend it because it's so goddamn epic) do it that way.

Can't really do that on my PS3 dude... Gotta do it on my sweet launch PS2.

There was a millisecond of gameplay footage in the Spike trailer. I also need to play God of War 2 first. I only recently completed the first one.

I really enjoyed it. I liked the variety of weapons and combos paired with the upgrade system. Although I'm not a big fan of quick time events, I think they were implemented well--especially for some of the generic enemies where you had the option to perform a QTE to gain health or [magic]. Most of them seemed pretty fluid, instead of just feeling like I'm being prompted to press a button during a cut scene, if that makes any sense.

As I recall, the only thing I didn't really like was the final boss battle. It was cool, but it was frustratingly difficult and cheap. Otherwise I thought it was a solid game, with generally excellent gameplay, great voice acting, and interesting environments.

Ya Warcrow, consider other people's feeling when you spurt out about backwards compatibility on the PS3. Not everyone has it....

Oh man I totally forgot about that. I have no idea what I'm going to do the day my launch PS3 60GB dies. :brokenheart:

But besides that, even off a PS2 it's great. Dont forget to unluck the 480P option before playing.

GoW2 didn't look right on my 720P plasma off of a PS2 (480P on or off). Looks like I'm going to have to borrow my brother's PS3 when I decided to finish the game.

Should I play GoW1 and GoW2 before I play GoW3?

The only GoW game I have is for PSP and I haven't played that one yet either. That one is supposed to be a prequel to the GoW series right? So should I start w/ GoW: CoO, then GoW1, then GoW2?

GoW:CoO isn't important, but you should definitely play GoW1 and 2 before playing 3. They are both really good games, and I believe the storyline will be important as GoW2 ended with an (semi) cliffhanger.

GoW1 and GoW2 are fantastic games and they will set the scene for GoW3 if you play them.

Easter Egg: Did you know that you can get the game to render full-frame 480p? As in, no black borders on non-overscanning displays? While enabling prog. scan in the menu does make the game look better, if you hold L1+L2+L3+Circle+Square at the first logo, the "Playstation 2" flash, the next screen should have purple text instead of white text to indicate that full 640x480p mode is on. The framerate isn't affected enough for me to care, and it makes a difference on digital displays. It is a bit tricky to get this to work on the PS3, because the controllers have to be reconnected every time you fire up a PS2 game, but it does indeed work. I find that if you hit the PS button just as the "Playstation 2" screen comes up, and then immediately hold the L1+L2+L3+Circle+Square combination, it should work just fine. Don't wait for the "Please press the PS button" message to come up or you will be too late. It's worth a shot and looks nice and sharp.

I loved GoW1 and 2. I will most certainly buy 3 for the 360 when it comes out.
