capacitor decided to smoke on the right hand side of my memory modules, i believe the board is no longer under warranty. and i HOPE it did not take my memory with it. now, it will post up to C1 (which i believe is memory) and then restart itself.

this is why I don't buy Abit

but honestly, I am not sure what their warranty is like... I doubt after 1.5 years it's covered, but I could be wrong.

The smoke is what makes your machine go. Lose the smoke and your toast!

[perhaps someone can post that the way it's supposed to be?]

Sounds like you did something wrong when you installed it. Good luck though!

I think Abit was the first to admit that their boards used the faulty capacitor formula and has been replacing all without problems...

if you don't overclock and want rock solid stability,

and you use a pentium,

I always get my clients intel boards....never have any problems like you mention (at least not yet)....i use intel boards at home, and they are very very rock solid. Used to work there and they are tested extensively and very thoroughly.

AMD get an Nforce board....although reliability is unknown and not sure which manufacturer.

I have built a couple Abit systems for people, overclocked, and running strong for over 2 years..

Can't go wrong with Abit.
