Given how bad the last American attempt at a Godzilla movie was, I'm going into this one with very low expectations. Yeah, the Japanese ones were corny but at least they had charm.

I was sad for Godzilla in the last American one.

HALO jump for no reason, because it looks good on screen!

I am just speculating here, but I am guessing the Halo jump was to distract godzilla or get his attention, because of the use of flares.

You would never want to use a flare in a jump like that due to it possibly coming loose and burning you canopy, or burning yourself, etc. They use chemlights for this.

I am guessing that it was to get Godzilla to move or distract him from something.

Or, it could be that they just used the flares because it looks awesome on screen.

I'm guessing it was to distract him, or to rescue someone, or complete some particular objective that's NOT directly engaging Godzilla. Makes more sense than what just about everyone is assuming, but really who knows since this is just a teaser. But it's more fun to make stupid assumptions and then criticize the movie! :awe:

I cant quite pinpoint the symbolism on the HALO jump scene falling from an opening in the sky. If I were to guess I would say something along the lines of greek gods coming down from the heavens to slay a Titan that has escaped from Tartarus.

But I agree this looks a lot more serious than previous movies. Definately on my list of movies to see in 2014 now.

Cloverfield monster might be tougher than Godzilla, since it has all those little beasties running around. But then Godzilla has that breath blast. They should just make Godzilla vs Cloverfield.

Hard to judge as cloverfield really never did anything special as you never saw it for more then 2 seconds and even then really never the entire thing.

I'm not sure where they are getting that from, but they speak like its a known fact. Anyways, I'd want to see that movie more than Godzilla or Cloverfield 2.

"The key to it is that the monster was a baby. The monster was suffering from separation anxiety and was absolutely disoriented and pissed, "where's mommy?", and terrified. That was the most important aspect of the creature. Not only was he furious and in a rage but he was scared, because to me there's nothing scarier than something huge that's spooked. If you're at the circus and the elephants are going nuts you don't want to be near them. We talked with Neville about the idea of how when a horse gets spooked you see the whites under the bottom of its eye. He fleshed out those sort of details. We talked about wanting the monster to be different in that it was white. All these different aspects which were important to us. It developed in many different ways and it came down to what Neville was doing which was amazing."
