You get the entire Avernum and another series - 10 big games - as well as the first two of the new series, Avadon 1 and 2.
Yeah I played Avernum & Avadon. Better than I thought they would be. Avernum 2 comes out next month for those interested.

50% off Witcher 1&2, Far Cry 1&2, NWN 1&2. If anyone wonders why the site may be slow, it's probably me...

About that 50% off . . .

There should be over 700 games that are 50% off during this sale, but I'm pretty sure you can get them even cheaper when they go on "Flash Sale".

Of course, that means you need to keep checking back on the site to see what the newest item is . . .

Today is the day they run all the daily deals.

So for example, the Spiderweb bundle is on sale again.

I always found Colonization a little strange. You have 15 or so different resources, of which only 5 matters: Food, Wood, Ore, Horse, and Liberty Bells. Once I fugired that out, the difficulty dropped dramatically.

So I can post the code freely and my GoG account will not be shut down? That sounds shifty.

You're not allowed to sell your Codes, but you can trade them or gift them.

I've done both for quite some time.

zeffyr: No money trading here. OP, can we specify that in the first post?

Zurvan7: Is there an actual gog rule or gog staff answer on this matter? Would be nice if someone could vitrify this since it's not a gog title. Otherwise I'll ask a staff....

Don't sell keys here, please.

I hope this helps

Again:

No key selling. Thanks.

Ultima series on sale today. Looking at Ultima 7. Never played any of them and 7 has, by far, the best reviews. Any thoughts?

It is a very good game. It is VERY similar to Divinity: Original Sin, so if you liked that game, there is a good chance you'll like Ultima 7. I suggest using Exult to play it though, as it makes the game easier to play (it increases the resolution from 320x200 to I think 640x400). exult.sourceforge.net.
I haven't played it in a while, but it is a very fun game to play. It is like a 2D Skyrim, with day/night cycles, and everyone doing their daily routine (getting up, going to work, going to the bar afterward, going to church on Sundays) it was amazing for the time, and is rarely attempted even now.

The later Ultima games weren't very good though. I would just stick with Ultima 7.

I've tried to play Ultima 7 a few times (with exult) and just can't do it. Simply cannot make out what things are on the screen and some things you interact with are practically dots. It sucks because I missed it back in the day and really wanted to play it. Really wish they would remake it (in high res 2D), but that will never happen.

I seem to remember it being unplayable at 1920x1200 when I tried it for the reasons you stated. I got around it by running it at 960x600, so that the sprites were twice as big.

If anyone wants the first three Hitman games, they are on sale. I don't know about Hitman Contracts, but Hitman 2: Silent Assassin has the best level design in any Hitman game yet.

Even better than Blood Money (heresy, I know).

Does anyone know how "gifting" works with GoG?

Specifically, I'd like to get in on these deals and gift them to my brother, but for Christmas. Is there an option to delay the gift until a later date, like Steam does?

Or could I buy them for MY account, and he could just log in with my details and install them to his computer?

I know there's a gift option on the checkout, where it asks for an email address of the recipient, but I've never gifted a GoG game to anyone before. Maybe ask on their forums?

For what you're wanting to do, you can gift it to yourself (GOG account email).

You'll get the code link in your email, which really you can ignore, since you'll also have the code in your "Gifts" tab.

You can see the "Gifts" tab when you go to your Library (under Account), and from there along the top you'll see Games, Wishlist, Gifts, Messages, Settings.

Codes brought on GOG don't expire, so you can essentially hang onto them as long as you need.

To redeem the game/code, there is an option to resend it where you can probably change the email - I haven't tried this.
What I do is just send the code that you can see, which is easy to activate.

Contracts is the best in my humble opinion. I like Blood Money, but I always longed for the Asian theme that was a pillar of the older titles.

The main problem I have with these games at the moment (Contracts and Blood Money), is that they seem to resist AA. I can't get any transparency AA in Blood Money, nor SGSSAA without any blur. Same for Contracts, although not even MSAA seems to work in that game. I could have sworn it used to work, but when I dug up an old screenshot of the game, there was no AA so I might have been dreaming.

Definitely worth buying, although it's also worth noting that the retail "Hitman Collection" set (including the first four games) is also DRM free if you like to have disks.

I agree that Contracts was the best, but they were all fun. I love playing games where you could go and take out the bad guy without ever getting noticed, and without firing a shot. Contacts was the best of the series for that, and the controls were the best by far. Playing the rest of the games with a mouse and keyboard was painful, but Contracts had standard FPS controls that made it easy.

Any way, that game brought back the joy I had playing assassination missions on Syndicate in the 90's, killing the target without firing a shot, and without anyone noticing I was there. It just had that mission impossible feel to it.
