I bought Mad Max for a fiver. Was waiting for that to go back on sale.

-Doubt you've had a chance to play it yet, but if you or anyone else has what games is it most like?

I see it's published by WB games who also published The Shadow of Mordor games and the Batman Arkham games, all of which are excellent.

I loved the hell out of Mad Max. I picked it up expecting a generic open-world game but I couldn't put it down. The map is absolutely gigantic and most of your time will be spent driving around the map, but given how you acquire and mod your vehicle, that's never an issue (plus most of the combat is done with your car). It doesn't disappoint in the slightest and if anyone can play it for just $5, then you definitely need to.

Also, isn't there a site where you can search the current prices for a game? I know Steam has some decent sales this time, but there's also a dozen other sites that offer steam keys. Some games (Rimworld, Spacehulk, NieR, etc.) aren't on sale or they barely have 10% off on Steam.

Seems all the games on my wishlist are either barely under what Steam is offering or not even on sale.

Guess I'll have to wait until Christmas (or payday).

Well I ended up with Battle block Theater, Mad Max and Alan Wake Complete for $13.00.

Titles, especially those from some of the "smaller" publishers seem to have become more resistant to either deep discounts or dropping the base game price in recent years. I was sure more games on my wish list (like Pillars Of Eternity or the Divinity Original Sin series) would be in at least the sub $10 territory by now but no luck this far.

Weird seeing much larger titles following the traditional discount curve into bargain bin pricing while niche games from smaller publishers hold their value.

This has never been one of the big sales, this one mainly sees discounts on horror games and things that feature zombies and such. Wait until the fall sale in a month or the Christmas sell at the end of December for the good discounts.

I finally broke down and bought They Are Billions. Holy hell that game is fun and the full release is right around the corner. Yes it's early access but the developers have already said the price will increase when it releases 1.0 in a few months and I was already planning on buying it when it was fully released, so I figured, why not grab it now. It's pretty challenging, but it's incredibly fun (until you're three hours in and that one runner makes it through a tiny sliver you left in your defenses and absolutely wrecks your entire settlement).

Edit: Finally beat the first survival map on a fairly easy setting (150 days, medium zombie population) and it was still really challenging. The worst part is trying to manage your resources during the end-game and bolstering your defenses. So far I've only played four games and not once have I even made a Barracks (or whatever building produces your soldiers). So I can confirm it's possible to beat the maps with just your starting units and nothing but towers. Next time I'll try it with just an army.
