Well pretty much decided I'm going back to school. got a Associates degree in Visual Communications (film/video specialization mainly) from Collins College in 2003, (for profit school in tempe az which was prolly not one of my brighter choices).

Reason I'm doing this is I haven't been able to get a job in my field in over a year of searching after my last job ended (grand job and the grant ran out)and i'm hoping a bachelors might get me to that point. I"m sick of working jobs just to get by.

Anyone else go thru going back to school after such a long break? how hard was it to get back into it I fear I'm going to be so far behind in crap because I won't remember have the crap from HS and my original college (which was pretty crap on the academics side but was solid on the actual items I went there for).

Also I'm just starting with talking with the school I'm thinking about attending about credit transfers, do I have a snowballs chance in hell to get them to transfer over a significant amount of credits from my old degree?

also anyone know what my financial aid package might look like? only made like 20k last year since I was just working bs jobs and i'm old enough that my parents don't need to be on my financial aid information any longer.

what are you going to school for...film again? If that is the case I doubt you are gonna be hurting from things forgot from high school.

Physics of Chemistry on the other hand...could be a problem.

I went back after a 7 year break. No big. Did have some trouble with a couple classes transferring directly, but otherwise it was pain free. Loans aren't a problem to get as long as you have a pulse...grants are a bit tougher, especially at your income level. Might qualify for a couple though.

Just don't be that old lady (old man in your case) that asks all the questions in the world because you don't care what other people think of you. for not caring, for asking idiotic questions that could be saved for office hours or email. I hate that bitch, and ironically enough she's in my film class this semester, so don't think it couldn't be you.

Yeah...also don't act like everyone else is kids...even though they might be to you...but feel free to joke about it lol.

Broadcasting shouldn't be too hard, i have a few friends in that major and its pretty easy.

I don't know what that degree really gets you once you graduate tho.

hehe don't worry about me being that anoying person that always asks questions, I'd be more worried about me resisting trying to relive my youth and get with all the hot college a** instead of doing what I should be doing....
and yeah I dunno what the degree will get me but it seems like every job I apply for says they want a bachlors. I apply anyway but don't get a call back so I dunno.

It's one thing if you're the stupid question person (which are young more often than old in my experience), it's another if you're actually seeking knowledge/contribution. What I can't stand is when students get irritated by exploring concepts in class discussions because they're only there to 'get through' and don't want anything happening which could lead to thinking or work on their part. If you're not in school to actually learn and grow, then get the fvck out. Seriously.

In my experience its the 40+ year old students that spend the first 10 minutes of class asking the professor personal questions that the rest of the class could care less about. Then during class they ask questions semi-related to the material, once again something that should be asked during office hours.

And the people who do this aren't necessarily stupid or anything. One of the annoying old guys in my class was a retired engineer who worked at NASA most of his life.

I agree. I'm at school to be productive. I'm not there to waste my time. If you are preventing me from learning in an efficient manner, GTFO.
