Thinking about making a trip to Canada with the little lady during September. What are the best cities to see and things to do? This will be our first time each outside of the US. Hawaii was as far as we got last year on the honeymoon. Who here has been or lived in Canada?

Go fishing + hiking! IMO Canada has better widlife than the states. Just remember the bug spray cuz mosquitos are still vicious out there (I visited Toronto last summer)

it will be shocking to see Canadians at first. The tops of their heads are strangely detached from the rest of their head, and they like to make a lot of fat jokes.

There is something to do everywhere in Canada in the summer. Just don't come to southwestern Ontario right now, its attack of the Aphids!! Plus its hot as hell.

If you?re in to hiking or camping or that kind of stuff, then BC is a great place to start. For the usual tourist activities, I recommend Toronto or Montreal (came back from Montreal Monday... great city!).

I live in Toronto and the only thing I warn you about is the weather. It's freaken HOT here!!! (At least now it is)

Thanks for the ideas. I am not sure what region to visit. Currently looking at Vancouver on yahoo. We like nightlife (dancing not drinking), museums (boring I know but we want to know the history of Canado too), horseback, some hiking/outdoors stuff, watersports, maybe some skiing (water or snow, but we are newbies). We would also like to participate in some cultural events, maybe in the small towns.

Mountains are definately cool. What about ski lodges up there?

Banff or Lake Louise is sweet for skiing, its gorgeous but you won't get very much culture out there... just nature...
vancouver and toronto are nice for night life, and ottawa is the place to go for history...
north western ontario is great for canoeing/hiking/watersports (kenora, lake of the woods)

Canada is known for Hockey! So what else to do than go see a hockey game!
There are various teams to visit such as Ottawa , Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver! If hockey isn't in season, go visit the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. It's all about hockey there. And you might consider going sightseeing and camping or hiking in the mountains.

Hockey! My wife and I love to watch it, never been to a game though. I think we are gonna see a few Dallas Stars games this season whoop!

Man I didn't know there is so much to choose from in Canada. If we go Toronto there are the Niagra Falls close by. Vancouver has some nice tours and river rafting. Calgary is close to Banff and the meeses

Now how the heck am I supposed to choose! LOL

If you're into nightlife and museums you definitely want to check out Toronto, then head on the train and go down to Montreal, perhaps passing through Ottawa. Toronto and Montreal have the nightlife. Toronto and Ottawa have the museums.

Vancouver I'm told is beautiful but all the people I know that enjoy the nightlife in Toronto say Vancouver's nightlife pales in comparison (sorry Vancouverites).

Oh and be prepared. Toronto is the center of the universe (only the Canadians will understand) hehehe

Hockey season starts in September

And no Toronto is not the centre of the universe, Vancouver is. Torontonians just think they are.

Once again, WHISTLER WHISTLER WHISTLER. That's all you need

If your into Nightlife and museams/history, I would definatly suggest Montreal... I mean, you should SEE the stretch of night clubs they have down there... wow... its nuts!!!

Plus, during the day, there are tons of great places to visit and learn stuff... great city.

Either that or Toronto... lots of night life there, but its farking HOT here right now... well, atleast for us it is... being from Texas, you might not find it as hot...

Hehe yeah I think TX is the hottest place on earth, Hawaii was a winter carnival in comparison.

I live in NH, and if you're making a long trip anyway you should consider Quebec. The people there have a reputation for being really hostile towards English speakers, but I think if you're from Texas you're probably excused. Quebec is really different, whereas the rest of Canada (ok, get ready to flame away), well, let's just say Quebec is really different. Montreal gets most of the attention, but Quebec City is definitely worth a trip. The Maritimes and Newfoundland are very cool too, but a little more laid back. Picture the Gorton's fisherman (do they have him in Texas?) playing the bagpipes. My personal favorites are Newfoundland and Cape Breton Island (the way out part of Nova Scotia), but I'm not sure what there actually is to do there.

To all the Canadians out there:
I meant well, it just didn't really come out sounding that way.

My cousins live there . . . and yes it is one of the most spectacular places I have been. I live in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan and regularly hop the border to Windsor Ontario since the drinking age is 19 and I'm 19.

Where are you from? Toronto is a 5 hour drive from me and Niagra is about 12 hours. You from Michigan by any chance?

Don't forget to pack some extra snow shovels and several layers of parkas - it gets quite cold up here (we're lucky if we can get to -30 Celsius in August). A weapon for fighting off caribou would be an asset, but not essential. If you visit Ottawa you can see our national igloo, inhabited by our very own Prime Minister Poutine.

Victoria = On Vancouver Island; real nice and lots of Museums, it's British Columbia's capital city.
Whistler = 1 Hour from Vancouver; beautiful and lots of night life.
Sunshine Coast = Amazing scenery.

A trip to Vancouver Island will not leave you dissapointed, the West Coast of the Island is breathtaking.
