Entire family is headed down to Florida at the end of February. Airfare, hotel, car already wrapped up, but I was hoping some ATOT folks had some tips/suggestions on saving some $ on park admissions or WHATEVER POSSIBLE while down there. Discounts online, around the area etc etc. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

i think my wife went through AAA to get some discounts on either the food plan or the park tickets or both. however, someone mentioned in another thread that they are doing away with the food plan.

Best way to save money is to not go.

Seriously, figure out your plans and which days you'll be at the parks. Buy park-hopping passes (passes that allow you entrance to all parks you want to go to) to save a few bucks. I don't know of any specific sites online for discounted tickets, but I'm sure there are tons. You're going at a good time, as far as the weather is concerned (you won't spend a million dollars on water to combat the Florida heat). Food is expensive-ish, and the restaurants all around the parks are the typical fare. Still, that's nothing new when traveling to an area like Disney.

If you have any specific questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

Good luck. You might consider a 'vacation loan' to finance such an endeavor.

Talk to friends and family and see if they know anyone who works there. At best they may be able to get you in for free for one or two days, assuming they have a Silver pass or better. At worst they should be able to purchase discounted admission tickets for you.

Are you staying on Disney property? If so, get the meal package they offer. It's a set price per person per day and you can eat at any restaurant you want while there. It can be a HUGE money saver.

Tell your kids you forgot your wallet at the hotel. Seriously Disney is overrated and expensive as hell.

I could help you on the hotel, but other than that....

Tip: Check with the timeshares in the area and ask them if they have any incentives to do a walkthrough. Most will pay you $100 for an hour and a half (maybe 2 hours if they suck) of your time to tour the property and listen to a sales pitch about how great they are. Tell them half-way through that you just paid for a timeshare last week and name some place they haven't heard of and that you're just wanting to see what else is out there. They give up easier that way and will give you a crisp $100 to spend on park admissions. It pays if the hotel you're staying at is a timeshare.

Dress in drag and go during "Gay Day".

Seriously, Disney is super-expensive. If you want to save money, go somewhere else!

Another thing that won't save money, but that will get you more for your money, is inviting a handicapped friend. Front of the line, every time. And these are LONG lines.

Maybe, we went to Magic Kingdom and IIRC the tickets were 50+ per day each. The food and gift shops were outrageous. We had 2X as much fun on International Drive.
