Going to guatemala tomorrow

Anyone been there? Round trip tickets were only $300 so i figured I'd take a short vacation there.

I've never been there, but I love saying the word "Guatemala". Should be an interesting trip.

I took a cruise that stopped there.
We visited the Las Escobas water falls.
They were neat, but nothing amazing.

I just enjoyed driving through the streets and shopping in the local markets.

They say to watch out for crime though.
It is not uncommon for tourists to be mugged.
Stay on the main streets and keep a strong hand on your items.

I didn't even know Guatemala was a place.

But I sure love it on nachos.

I absolutely love South America. You'll find the people are much more open, and many will try to communicate with you even though they speak limited English.

Have a great time. There isn't as much money, so obvously there will be more places where things are not as clean and safe as most of the U.S. But there are also some great things there and if you are open minded and appreciate the differences, you'll have a wonderful experience.

I always thought guatemala was in central america.. which is technically part of North America, not South America. But I guess culturally they're closer to South America...

Yea Guatemala is in Central America. Ehh not a place to go if you don't look like you belong there. Mine as well do as many drugs there as you can.

Of course you're right. South Americans don't distinguish between North, Central, and South America - they think of it all as one continent (at least all of the Brazilians, Peruvians, and Argentinians I've met see it that way).

I think of Central as part of South, and forgot that it's a separate region to us.
