Going to purchase a new PC for my sis.

She's a student and will get a superfast internet connection around 1 mbit/sec in her new bedsit. Thus, it's important for me to get her a big HD so that i can download lots of stuff . She won't use it for much more than typing exercises, but it's important that the comp. is capable of using the full potential of the fast internet connection. I would also include a CD-burner, but it won't be used much for playing games. The pricerange is in the 900-1000 bucks area. So, do you have some suggestions for a setup, incl. monitor?

Should be able to do that easily for under $1000. But that comp would be way overkill for what your sis plans to use it for.

Any CPU 1GHz or higher will be plent sufficient for the tasks you mentioned. 256MB of memory is also probably plenty. A CD-RW drive with the capability of writing at at least 16x is what you should aim for. Also, if you want to download a lot of stuff, try Maxtor's 160GB or 120GB HDDs.
