What other things should I get? These need to be things I would get anyways, since if a plague doesn't occur, I can use it and not waste money.

Not really. Ebola is almost exactly the same as it was from the day we found it. It's transmission vector is the same( which means its damn hard to actually transmit human to human)

As it turns out, a person that is in Liberia, which is a current hotbed of the Ebola outbreak, can contract it there because of substandard health services, and then come back to the US without feeling any symptoms and then actually get sick here because of the lag between infection and symptoms.

You need to educate yourself and actually read the reports before you start spreading dumb ideas.

Get a bungee cord, a bone saw and some cat gut. I read that if you can hack off a limb exposed to the virus early enough, you can keep yourself from getting infected. If you have to hack off your head, leave a note so we don't think any workplace violence took place.

Well it turns out that even sweat can transmit Ebola so all it takes is one touch on a railing in some international airport from someone who is sweating profusely and only seems like they only have early flu symptoms and you know have potentially hundreds of sick travelers who can pass on the Ebola when they start to get sick and that now turn into thousands who are sick with Ebola and then they can pass it on. That is how disease vectors and transmission works.

On the flip side, if there WAS an airborne variant of Ebola now, would the CDC tell us about it right away? I think that they would try to keep it quiet as long as possible to avoid a mass panic.
