The P260 is functionally equivalent to a Sony G400. I've had one for almost 2 years, and I love it - I run it at 1600*1200 through my laptop, and it is a tough thing to look at the laptop screen at home.

Anyone who calls the list price $900-$1000 is dealing in the past. You can get an IBM P275 (replacement for P260) for $749 - that goes up to 1800*1440.

I have a white P260 I bought for $699 new a year ago. Great monitor, I love the dual inputs. I have it plugged into the DVI output port of my GeForce4 Ti 4400 and works great.

DVI-A and DVI-D use different sections of the cable. If you look carefully at DVI-I, and check the pins half the side (the part that looks like a cross) works with analog signals, and the other half (the part that has rectangular holes) works with the digital signal. I always thought that a DVI-I cable would carry all signals, whereas a DVI-A ignores the data signals, and vice versa for the DVI-D.

Anyway, hope it all works out for everyone involved.

The highest preset is 1600x1200 but the P260 will sync up to 2048x1536. That means top performance is guaranteed at 1600x1200 and anything above will probably work but might not have perfect geometry.

I hit a little snag in the order process: CompGeeks had a problem with my CC verification. I'm having the monitor shipped to my work address and this isn't jiving with what the CC company has on record. Now I have to make some calls to get this darn thing shipped.

Got my monitor today, went and picked it up. Thing looks brand new, screens flat! Has a digital input and comes with standard vga cable too. Was a great deal.

Question anyone got the manual for this and drivers? I searched ibms site with no luck, need to know the specs and how to change contrast and brightness.

The OSD images provided in the manual look very similar to those for my Dell P1130 21" FD Trinitron, but the IBM P260 adds some new stuff like color bias and gain settings. I guess Dell and IBM source their monitors from the same manufacturer, which I believe is Sony.

Just curious... what's the advantge to using the DVI input on a monitor like this? Do you get a better picture?

Don't be too jealous. Got mine today and it has major color problems. -_- The pins on the VGA inputs were bent to the point of almost breaking, so if replacing that doesn't fix it, I'll have to ship it back to them. Not such a hot deal.

Sorry to hear your bad luck. You might want to try putting a VGA->DVI adapter and try the DVI input of the monitor instead.

Switched the vga cord with a new one and I still get the same problems. Would trying the DVI output make a difference since it looks like a problem with the monitor? Sigh, I hope I didn't pay $34 in s&h for nothing and then now I have to ship it back?!?

boo, i just got my monitor only to find that the bezel is cracked........ ok so it's not a huge deal, it's not the screen, right? well, i plug the monitor in and setup the drivers, i find blurry wavy lines all over the screen, and the color is really quite messed up....now that, is unacceptable. i tried calling CompGeeks 15 minutes ago, but they just closed shop for the day.

anyhow, there is no way that i'm paying for shipping the monitor back to them or eating the cost of having it shipped to me. if they don't fully refund me and pay for the shipping costs back to them, i will simply make a call to my credit card complany, have the charges reversed, and junk the monitor in a dumpster.

well, i sure hope everyone else has recieved or will recieve their monitors in good condition.

well, i just got off the phone with a CSR at compgeeks. i am being sent a return shipping label for the Grade A JUNK, then once they recieve it, they'll be sending me another monitor.....hopefully not another piece of Grade A JUNK. the whole pricess should take around two weeks..........

It could be The shippers fault. I have shipped 3 21" monitors on UPS over the course of a year and they broke all three.....

i wouldn't doubt it, but mine was shipped fedex ground and i thought they treated packages a bit more TLC.

So that's two lemons and a good one? ***Major sweating*** . Sorry to hear people getting ripped on this deal. Compgeeks is usually better than this in my experience. I will keep people posted on the result once mine comes next Monday.

My monitor arrives tomorrow, I'll let everyone know what happens... though the other testimonials aren't inspiring a lot of confindence at the moment.

Sent an email to the returns and tech support dept regarding my defective monitor before I left this morning and still nothing? WTF?!? I guess the only way to get a reply out of them will be to call them tomorrow?

yeah, you're better off giving them a call. i called around 11am pst and it was about a 20 minute wait, so you might wanna try calling earlier.
