Gonna Buy a Digi Cam......................

I've got a preety decent amount of left over gift certs. from Buy.com and have decided to apply them toward a nice digital camera for my wife for X-Mas............................I know there are guys on A/T with a LOT more knowledge than I on these so, what do you recommend?

I've done a bit of searching and to me, the 5megapixel range looks to be the "sweet spot"..............am I right?

If you want a sweet ass point and shoot camera, look no further than the Canon A95. Great little camera.

Any thing else you want in a camera, lenses, zoom, etc? The Canon Digital Rebel SLR is supposed to be a kick ass camera, but its around 1000.

The A95 is a pretty solid camera, I was looking at it myself a while back, but the funds never materialized.

Another vote for the canon I have the camera which this one replaced - the A80 - and I love it. Get 2 good sets of NiMH batteries & a 256MB CF card or two, and you'll be in great shape.

Actually, I'm liking what I see with the A95! She just said it was time for a new one so this ought to do the trick! Thanks!
