Good 19" CRT?

What would be a good 19" CRT monitor for around $200? The one I was looking at was this NEC AS900:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-002-248&depa=0

I need something nice and bright for gaming, I'm replacing my old 19" because its brightness is just dead after years of use and the awesome control panel for ATI cards resets everytime I run a game so its worthless... so I have to get a new monitor instead. Any help will be appriciated. Please don't suggest a 17" LCD or something, after using a 19" for about 6 years everyday I don't think I can downsize my monitor.

Give the search feature above a try. Seems I've seen many posts on this in the recent past.

The monitor I have now (Gateway EV910) has last me 5 years (brightness started getting really low in the past couple years). So I don't want a monitor that's going to die off rather quickly.

That's strange. I have a FE991SB-BK and it works just fine. I have an Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 91TXM which is ancient and works just fine. NEC/Mitsubishi makess great stuff. But whatever... Get the samsung I linked then!

NEC MultiSync FP912SB excellent text quality !!!

Just to clarify the FE = Flat entry and the FP = Flat Pro so the pro version would be better quality.

The first 19" monitor I had was a Gateway EV910. I got an NEC FE950+ to replace it and am very glad I did. I love my NEC and I think the text looks very good compared to the EV910.

I'm into my 3rd year on my NEC and haven't had any problems.

Get one of the $200 21" Grade A Refurbs out there. I got an IBM P260 and it's amazing.

I bought a Mitsubishi/NEC 930SB a few months ago and it is great for the money. But I've not been using it much lately - I got a Dell 2005FPW LCD monitor a couple months ago and that has kept my attention. Of course, I still use the Mitsubishi (and the Dell) when I am doing video editing (dual view).

So, even though its a refurb it'd be a great buy for $200? I guess if it didnt' work I could just send it back cause it comes with a 1 year warranty.

My brother recently purchased the refurbished Mitsubishi monitor linked here. It is amazing...by far the best 19" monitor available. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, with the rise in LCD popularity, most companies have stopped development (and even production) of high end 19" CRT monitors. In 2002 I bought an NEC Multisync FP955 (same internal components as the Mitsubishi) and LOVE IT. Even the nicest LCD monitors make me cringe compared to NEC/Mitsubishi's amazing .24mm uniform aperture grille...it's simply unrivaled.

Would this be a good deal? Saw it in another of the gaming monitor section, I wouldn't mind getting a 21" monitor but I was worried about quality for $200. I'm trying to decide between this monitor or the refurbished Mitsubishi monitor linked above. Thanks guys.

NEC/Mitsubishi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dell.

It's a Diamond Pro! There is no contest whatsoever.

Sony actually makes the Trinitron monitor tubes, not Dell.

Its also a 0.24mm aperture grille, just like the Diamond Pro.

Yes, the trinitron tubes are nice, but the Dell CRT in question was OEMed to AOC international. (Read-> substandard aka cheap driver electronics/PSU)

Also the Diamond Pro has a higher bandwidth video input, so higher max res!

What would be a better manufacturer other than Dell to buy a Trinitron tube monitor from for about the same price? Other ones I've seen are from HP, Compaq, and IBM.

The Mitsubishi is a Diamondtron tube. Mitsubishi took Trinitron and improved upon it. There is none better.
