Good alternative to Endomondo?

I haven't fired it up in a while, but today I used it for lifting to check out some data. The thing is they took it all away and now you have to upgrade to premium for $10/mo just to see any data.

I wouldn't mind paying $10, just not every month. I have a Zephyr HxM as a HRT and would like an app that can use that.

What apps do you all use?

Sports-tracker. I've tried a bunch since I used EndoMondo. EndoMondo used to crash too often for me. When I used EndoMondo (around 2 years ago), the longer the run the higher the chance of a crash which meant losing all of the data.

I can't remember all of the different apps that I have tried, but I liked Sports-tracker the best. The thing is, there is no pay version of Sports-Tracker. I use a BT HRM (which I think the Zephyr is) and Sports-tracker gives data recorded from it (BTW: I use the Sports-Tracker BT HRM). When I bought the BT HRM, it was only $70 @ Radio Shack: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=22370536.

Now I see that there is more than one Sports Tracker app (I think you need to have the dash in between the words). So, I'll give a link to the one I'm talking about: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stt.android&hl=en

Very recently they just did a big update to Sports-Tracker. They fixed the altitude logging problem (it was showing WAY to much deviation for what I was doing). They also fixed some bugs. One of the features that I like about Sports-Tracker is the ability to see other peoples workouts based on location. Whenever I'd take my wife to a doctors appointment I'd look for runs or walks that had taken place in the area. I was able to find some cool routes near me that I never would have thought of otherwise. A buddy and I are planning to do a bike route through Queens that looks awesome (it uses a bunch of the old Vanderbuilt Parkway (a 1908 roadway that still has elevated remnants in a place as devolped as Queens: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Island_Motor_Parkway)). I never thought of the explore feature as a big deal until I started using it.

I've heard good things about 'map my run', but that IIRC that is (or was) an apple device app. I never did try 'map my run'.

Not sure if this will work for you, but I use Strava to track my rides and now my running (used to use Nike+ GPS for running...but decided to move to Strava to keep it on all one place).

Strava is what I use also. It's the best I've seen so far and the free version is quite valuable.

When it comes to apps I also give Strava the nod. I have played around with several tracking apps over the past couple of months now that I started running with a phone and Strava seems to be as good or better than the others I have tried.

In the end however none of the apps beat the reliability and ease that my Gamnin Forerunner gives me. The apps are fun to play with but I never run without my Garmin.

You have the best of both worlds Dave, you can run with the Garmin and upload to Strava. Nice.

This is what I would like to do...just haven't gotten around to throwing down the money on a watch. I'm amping up my running again (was ver focused on biking all summer), so might be time to bite the bullet.

One of the things I like about Strava is the challenges. For me the social "competition" of the challenges keeps me focused even when there is no race on the horizon. And it keeps track of my PBs and whatnot which is also motivational for me.

Can you give a report on the 620 after you spend some time with it? I love my 110 and my wife has the 210, but those watches have what could possibly be the worst connection design I have ever seen on any piece of electronic equipment. The only thing I am not sure about is having a touch screen in place of actual buttons. I like the physical buttons because I don't need to look at my watch to stat/stop or hit the lap counter.

Will do. I currently have a 410 and I'm not a fan of the touch bezel. I also prefer buttons that I used to have on my old 305. But I hear the touchscreen works pretty well(better than the touch bezel I currently have) and supposedly locks tons faster. Note, there's also a new 220 but being the analysis geek, I'm looking forward to all of the extra analysis tools the 620 has. Plus, it's a little gift and encouragement for running Boston this year and next.

This is a big part of it for me with regard to mtn biking.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll give them a try. I did find Jefit for lifting too, still getting the hang of it though.
