I'm starting to wonder if AVG is as good as it used to be. Two years ago everyone was saying nod32 or avg and avg was free (I think there was a free v. of nod32 then) now I see no one standing up for AVG. Looks like AntiVir is going on all my computers.
Need to go through the security tutorial for routers too. Plus I didn't know about the Administrator account thing. I've always setup an account with admin ability and used that. Guess I need to change that also.
As far as antivirus goes I think AntiVir will do but how about mal-ware or spyware? Think I saw something about that on the last page I'll need to look into. Great thread.
Also running this: http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/
As mentioned in the security thread linked above.
Is Antivir that much better detection wise than AVG?

Avoid Norton 2009 (i.e. Symantec) like the plague. I have had to fix several issues related to Norton AV 2009 and Internet Security in the past few weeks at work. It also miss alot of viruses. Detection is bad with Norton 2009.
Go with Antivir. I have heard good things about Kaspersky also.

I am. It's still my favorite.

Symantec Antivirus (not the Norton one) - never failed me. It's a bit pricey but VERY transparent. Best 50$ I've spent on computer security.

Norton AV 2009 is quite lean on resources and excellent.
