I'm doing a budget build and would like recommendations on a good budget case and power supply. They can be bundled or separate but i would like the total to definitely be 100 or less (80 or less preferably). Thanks, Rob

Check the Rosewill thread here. Hard to beat the R6A series on a value basis (performance per dollar). Except for the bezel, the Antec SLK3000-B is identical (and you can get that for about the same bottom-line price thru Provantage.com if you'd rather). I'm tired of looking at that ancient Antec bezel design, so the Rosewill variants were a breath of fresh air to me. And there are quite a few decent PSUs for under $50. shipped these days. There is a Coolmax 500W unit with active PFC on Newegg that was selling for around $50. shipped recently. It's definitely worth a look.

No I don't have the link to the thread handy, but if you type rosewill into the search field at the top of each C&C page and hit Enter, voila, there she is. I'm really holding back a ddd.... (think Bart).

He helps those who help themselves.

InWin is another good choice. Pretty basic cases but very solid that come with fairly good PSUs.

The cases themselves come in at $50-60, so you should be able to fit in a lower watt Forton-Source or maybe even a Seasonic and keep it under $100, and keep the InWin PSU as a backup.

Perhaps an antec slk3000 from provantage (as zepper pointed out) as they are $45 shipped I believe. Throw in a seasonic s12 330w for a very low end build (integrated graphics, 1 hdd etc.) or a sparkle or fortron fsp400-60thn. The sparkle is usually cheaper. Both the seasonic and the fortron go for ~$55 shipped. The fortron could be less...

Antec SLK3000B: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811129152 (can be had for less elsewhere)

PSU: Fortron 400W or Sparkle Power 350W (both are almost identical)

MAKE SURE THE SPARKLE IS THE ATX-350PN! They have many similar looking models.

I used to have a Coolmax in my old Socket A system.

While I can't say how well it will hold up to the higher demands PCI-E and some of the newer tech out there, I will say that the one I had in my rig had super stable rails and was very quiet.

Hope it works out for you.

Newegg had a sale on an Antec Sonata II with a SmartPower 2.0 450w combo for $89 the other day, Not too bad I don't think.

Looks like they still have the deal going on -

I think they are very nice cases, and there is even another rebate which gets the cost down to $74.99 (if rebates are something you are willing to deal with that is).
