Crap GPU or CPU?He was not afraid say nobody should buy it because its waste of money.From today point of view unimaginable.After he left anandtech was just like other sites not having balls to criticize overpriced CPUs or GPUs + they fell really behing in number of content to channels like HW unboxed.

I dunno about that. He got out at a good time. The website was already already becoming less relevant with YouTube channels becoming more and more relevant.

I think he did well to bail when he did. New management did their best with the main site, but it was a sinking ship. I'm surprised it lasted as long as they did.

Actually I like that idea, instead of outright banning people, just confine them to one forum.

End of an era. The site wasn't as prominent as in its heydays and as others have noted, there were plenty of other tech websites, and the prominence of Youtube.

The sad part is, and this is only my opinion, 80% of Youtube videos is at best a supplement, and not a replacement for the indepth reviews we get with a written article. Yes, a Youtube video is perfectly fine, and perfectly valid, for a video card performance review. But when you're doing an article on a new GPU architecture, and talking about what makes it tick, what makes it better, etc., nothing beats out a well written article.

Articles are also more likely to be found when doing a Google search. Something like a Youtube video does not have a lot of metadata for a search engine to find compared to an article.

Yeah, one bad review = pulled advertising. Same with YouTube reviews these days.

Sad to see things go away. Just as long as the keep the Jesus's middle name is Hume! thread alive, I'll be content. Half my life's work is in there!

I'm sure we have at least a handful or two of users who would have no issue at all with providing an automated periodic contribution to keep the site sucking oxygen and contributing to global worming/warming/whatever.

Personally and in exchange, I'd want to get my beak wet, one might say. But even from an owner's POV, the alternative is boarding up the windows, opening the gas line and tossing in a road flare thru the front door.
