First, those who broke into the Capitol building will be known and arrested for their crimes. Duh. This doesn't happen in front of a TV camera for your personal enjoyment. Just because you don't see an arrest the day the crime was committed, doesn't mean they'll escape justice.

Generally, in a democracy, it does happen "in front of a TV camera" - or, rather, it happens openly with some form of media scrutiny. "Justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done" (only just discovered, on looking it up, that that quote is from Lord Hewart, the then Lord Chief Justice of England in the case of Rex v. Sussex Justices, [1924] - quite surprised it's of such recent vintage, to be honest)

In a culture where the law is very clearly not evenly applied, it seems especially-important. So, yeah, I want to see them arrested in full view of the media or I will doubt that it's happened.

Second, if you wanted more people killed.... you have no idea what was waiting in the wings and ready to take action. Militia groups were armed and waiting for any excuse to storm the Capitol and go in guns blazing. You want them to have that excuse? You don't just "win" a war. You lose people too. Who are you willing to sacrifice to sate your bloodlust?

It may come down to it, but we shouldn't want or encourage it.
The only good fascist is a dead fascist.

Anyone else concerned a 14 year air force vet got suckered into this madness?

Is it more concerning that a 14 year veteran got suckered into this madness or the fact that the president and multiple people in his administration and in his party got suckered into this and had the power to control our government?

Most everyone who voted for Trump in 2020 is part of the same alt-reality bubble, and is a full fledged member of their new religion.
Why pick out one person out of tens of millions?

Why did she join? Well we cannot ask her. But we can ask the rest of them. Why did they join a cult? Because they identified with a party. Group identity. Second, social media fed their Ego with propaganda and they took it as gospel. That's... all you need, really. It's a feels good movement. It is faith based. It is the Republican Party... and like Mecca before us, the host nation will soon be destroyed by fervent zealots.

Lest we find a way to counter their propaganda and stop their recruitment drive.

The 70 million voters probably have a wide variety of reasons. For at least a few of them it was a cold hard decision based on logic.
They dont like the fat orange son of a bitch, but they thought overall he'd be less destructive to the nation than a Democrat, especially one who didnt seem particularly tough or forceful.

The thousand angry morons on Capitol Hill do not fully represent 70 million people. BUT they do exist as they are, and boy are they fuckin dangerous. You dont need 70 million people for a revolution and they damn well know it.

You guys need to know something: Only about half the residents supported the American Revolution but for some reason thats rarely taught in American history class.

Reasoning is not the problem.

There is a literal religion forming. A belief system delivered via social media. It is a psychological response to reinforced bias, of self identity and the Ego feeding off of propaganda. It is the alt-reality bubble where people decry fake news, fake votes, and fake democracy. They firmly believe the Democrats performed a coup against them by stuffing fake ballots into counting machines. Or by simply faking the count in a way that cannot be audited.

There is no reality anymore in America. Just beliefs and a team sportsmanship in a quest for power.

You are trying to apply logic and reason unto madness. A madness that is sweeping the nation and recruiting in more people by the day. The Trumpers I know WANT Trump to perform a military coup to destroy our Democracy. And most people they interact with online are of the same mind about it.

I agree a portion of the R vote isn't in their bubble. It does not matter. You need to read comments from adherents of the faith lest you be surprised when Washington DC becomes the next Mecca. Trump may be cast aside, but it will make no difference. The zealots will continue to radicalize and organize into terror cells.

the majority of these people believe in a separate set of rules for them and the Libruls.
And I believe Kendall Jenner should sit on my face every morning to wake me up for work. Trouble usually is, what we believe doesn't matter. The problem here isn't what people believe or don't believe. The problem here is that as I've been saying all along, most of law enforcement is just as fucked up as any other run-of-the-mill Republican.

My neighbor essentially voted against Harris.

But then he said Uncle Ben (yeah, him) would make a great President.

You are trying to apply logic and reason unto madness.
You mean like demanding voting law changes in order to appease the fucktards that think the election was 'stolen'? As if it will make things better and not worse? And embolden their demands? Yeah.
Didn't anyone explain the rules for playing press your luck?
Big bucks, big bucks, NO WHAMMIES!

Merrick Garland thinks otherwise.

Its cute that you think that. We let literal Nazis off the hook, we let many southerners off the hook for killings of black people. We to this day let police off for murdering black people almost weekly.

You're nearly as delusional as Qanoners and Turmpers. Garland isn't gonna do shit that actually means anything. We'll see a bunch of low level pissants get slaps on the wrist. Probably one or two will get serious time if they find out who had explosives. The rest we'll be lucky if they get fines let alone charged with anything.

What would have happened is Trump's brownshirts would have taken hostages and probably executed members of the house.

Nobody was going to take any hostages you fucktard. There were antifa members caught on facial recognition cameras breaking into the chamber. Trump supporters the only ones who went inside were taking pictures. This is what happens when you steal an election and leave no recourse after going through every court system. The truth will come out soon . Biden will never be POTUS.

Which has been throughly been debunked even before the DOJ and FBI came out saying there was no BLM or ANTIFA at the Capitol.
