I'm for 25 to Life for all those planning, funding and fomenting insurrection, sedition and assassination.

There needs to be a high effort focus to isolate, degrade and destroy these terrorist networks and treasonous ideologies seeking to violently overthrow the US govt.

Are you for funding potentially 50-70 million prison cells?

I agree for those pulling the strings, but I do believe there were a large proportion of Fox-enthralled, Trump-incited IDIOTS who should spend some time in a penitentiary to, as the now almost obsolete terms implies, think about and be penitent for their behavior.

Sentences for the low info IDIOTS should range from as low as one month (ever spent a month in the brig? It's a LONG time!) to one year. Plus FINES that bite and that they'll never, ever forget.

If this can be done without significantly degrading civil liberties, I'm in agreement with this. It can sometimes be a delicate matter. But my emotions are for censure, banning, prosecution, but only with appropriateness. And I agree with @Perknose that the sentencing should be harsh enough where it sinks in, not just for the perpetrators and their actors but for would-be's.

We really do need to focus on education in the USA. There are too many people who really don't have a clue.

I don't really have much sympathy for this Tarp Lady; she choose a serial liar and violent insurrection over her country and clear cut democratic results.

She decided to ignore the repeated commands of armed security to stop putting others at risk and won a stupid prize from her stupid game.

If your delusions and greed are more important to you than the voting rights and lives of other people, then your highest and best use is to be an example of what not to do. Will her fellow traitors learn from it? I sure hope so.

Can one truly parse out and distinguish between the GOP and "these terrorist networks"?
I suppose the Turtle was never onboard with claiming the election was stolen, so that's a... start?
Mitch is a voice of.... reason???

Posters,
The forum gets people like this from time to time and you all know what your dealing with.
Responding "enables" and the only thing it serves is to give the illusion of discussion. The more you respond, the more likely it will impact search results on various search engines these threads were serve as a beacon to to others to come to this forum and generate content.
Use the ignore feature on cases like this and wait for mods to remove or for the noob to get bored\frustrated of people not responding to moronic nonsense.

You will not convince them that the Earth is not flat.
You will not convince them jet fuel does indeed burn and can lead to steel beams melting.
You will not convince them the Earth is older than 6000 years old.
They are not interested in discussion. They simply posting to yell nonsense and see if they can get more people to yell with them in agreement.

All you are doing is making it harder for the rest of us to have actual conversation and debate on the forum.
Meh.
One of the problems with society right now is that obvious bullshit has been allowed to stand because "everyone's entitled to an opinion dude!". People need to be challenged on their bullshit, it doesn't matter if they are too far gone to notice but it slows down the contagion.
People need to be subjected to critical thinking more often.

Much of the time when I read about these crazed Trumpers I feel more sad than scared. There's a whiff of the tragic about a good many of them.

Granted, I feel uncomfortably like I'm turning into Moonbeam when I feel that reaction, but it's there nonetheless (it's not meant to be a performative compassionate guru thing, at least I don't think it is). I suppose it's that "intersectionality" thing again - the way race and class interact in the US.

(Though I hate that word - seems ironic to me, that to identify a concept that many people know instinctively because they live it, it requires a polysyllabic word invented by someone in 'the academy'. Apparently the idea that different forms of disadvantage and power interact in complex ways didn't exist until someone with the right class credentials pointed it out.)

From what I can see, Trump-voters aren't all master-race skinhead stormtroopers, more than a few of them just seem damaged. Maybe that's always how it is with fascism?

No thats false.

People fight with the brainwashed angry nutjobs all the time. That's what they want. They thrive on logical fallacies and emotion-based arguments. They love it when you oppose them because it makes em feel like they have a real position. They thrive on undeserved attention. Donald is the worst offender. He does horrible shit deliberately to get attention and feed his ego.

Do you argue with a toddler?

No. You tell them whats what and then you ignore the tiny morons.

I think there's no substitute for wit and wisdom. A bit of that in Kenny Rogers' The Gambler. KWTHTKWTFT. I know, a bit dumb. But you get the idea.

People keep asking that question. I posted an answer somewhere here before. D.C. does not have a Felony Murder statue, nor does the Federal Government. Some states that had it have abolished it due to abuse. It's a highly flawed doctrine. What should apply here are the anti-terrorism laws which could hold some of these people for many, many years.

Add a "t" in front of that last word you posted and I'll wholeheartedly agree with you.

Mitch is an abolute dirtbag--he's the most dangerous politician in the land, not Trump--his breakaway from Trump means one thing--he sees the end for Trump, and doesn't want to go down with him. Never mind that he's spent the last four years enabling the clown. Never attribute to heroism what you can easily explain with selfishness. Mitch is the same asshole who, with a straight face, hurried through Trump's Supreme Court nominees after holding up Obama's for almost a year. He's a hypocrite of the highest order, but that's the GOP for you, they excel at being hypocrites and it's a proven working strategy for them.

Bottom line, he (and Pence) are only breaking from Trump because they see this not working out for Trump, or for them if they stand behind him. If they did, they'd be all in. They are worthless scum, proven by many years of so-called service.

You don't fight with them. Who needs to fight with an idiot?
Just get them to explain their position then ask for clarification on the mental points, then point out that those points are mental.
And you aren't necessarily arguing with them, you are countering the idea that critical thinking is worthless.

Agreed. I work with a couple of Q supporters--very smart data people. Smart people can be taken in by propaganda and wish-fulfillment just like uneducated people. I don't talk about politics with them. A few times we did, and the Q conspiracy stuff started creeping in...I said what I thought about it (nicely), they thoughtfully said "hmmm" and that was that. I don't envision they'll want another conversation. They go looking for fertile pastures. They want a ranting fight with someone, a target dummy. The last thing they want is to talk to someone able to bring facts and calm willingness to say "let's explore that and see what the data says" because most of them have enough sense left to know their beliefs are founded on garbage.

I have a ZCPolicy for people unwilling to discuss things factually, or trolls. We may disagree on what the facts mean, or how we got to a place, but if you are going to tell me the sky is purple then buzz off.

It's really amazing what they are finding.

A truck full of weapons and explosives brought up by a guy from alabama.
A guy who said he was there to shoot pelosi on national tv arrested and found to be heavily armed with guns.
Pipe bombs.
This thing could have gone really really poorly had it been better planned.
