good CCNA books?

hi folks im thinking about takin the ccna cert. some time soon... i have been throu the Cisco netacad 1-4... was wondering if theres any other books out there that will help out on the CCNA test..

here , not sure if this is for the 607 or not but its all the same material anyway, overall a good book and a very good price.

the book daniel suggested is a good one, but, I found it to be way to un-structured, dry, and illogically put together. Try reading through the one he suggested, and maybe also something like ccna for dummies; that might help you to make sense of all the repetive droning mindless sludge you read in the other book. Oh yeah, and dont forget to actually get some time on a real router, or you'll never be prepared enough... maybe try this site, or a similar site. Even better, just search for ccna, I know I've seen a few threads on this before!

If you found Sybex dry I fear for you...

Sybex I think is the best for ONLY CCNA after CCNA move on to the king of cisco books...cisco press. They are dry but they are the best if you want to really understand the highly technical stuff.

Isn't there a "compressed" Lammle book? One that would be good to read right before taking the test. It just hits the highlights of what you need to know for the cert.
If you took the four Netacad classes, you should be very close to prepared for the test. However, I did take the test before they changed it to the new interactive format.

I think you are referring to the "exam crams". There is probably one available for the CCNA exam. I think the Cisco Press books cover things more thoroughly, though they are drier.

Yep. there is one of those for the CCNA.

I would agree that the Lammle book and the Cisco Press books for the CCNA exam would be the best starting points. Lammle's Router Sim is pretty good too. When I took the CCNA exam, I used the Lammle book for the most part and the Router Sim. In fact, I would recommend the Lammle book over the Cisco Press book if I had to choose just one. Then, right before taking the exam, I took the Transcenders to ensure that I was ready. Cisco recently changed the format of the exam to include router simulation items, but since you went through the academy, you should have no problem with those items. Good Luck!
