Today is the big day.

Going with:

Black long sleeve shirt
Light gray carhart undershirt
Jeans
Black belt
Brown and black boots

Suspenders? Hat? Pipe? Holster? Did you take a horse or a truck? Arriving horseback probably would benefit you in the Texas land....

Though the Horse would have to leap onto the tugboat from shore to truly impress them!

PS, How did it go? I hope you landed the job!!!

Are you dark skinned? Then wear a light colored shirt.

Dark complected.

I have been mistaken for hispanic.

Walked in, slammed a can of spinach down on the table, opened it and gluped it down.

On the serious side, they said they would let me know next week. They still had a stack of applications and more interviews to go through.

I think the interview went well, but could have gone better. A lot of the questions were your typical canned questions. What are my strengths, what is my weakness, what can I bring to the company, problem resolution with other employees.

Told them my strength was I am a team player. My weakness is chocolate. The lady interviewer snickered at the chocolate answer.

Towards the end of the interview things had relaxed. Explained that I wanted a career change, and that I was there because I wanted to be. When I told them I have 9 1/2 years system administration they shook their heads yes and said that was a big bonus. Welding and previous industrial safety a plus.

It depends completely on the place you interview. Legal places, conservative colors, clean and quiet. Labour jobs, cheap simple, not flashy, etc. etc.

Generally, I go with what LOOKS good on me, not what I THINK looks good on me. I knew one dude who wore a purple pimp suit to an interview and thought he would peacock his way into a job lol

Well, nothings ever perfect, sounds promising though. Chocolate is good.
Anyhow, I hope it works out in your favor!

Thank you.

I could not sleep last night. I kept running the interview through my head asking myself what I could have done better.

Read some articles this morning about how companies like to hire people who are currently employed. I hope they consider I have been employed for 9 1/2 years with my currently employer.

I am ready for a change, so sick and tired of sitting at this desk.

Found out a week later I did not get the job.

Took off work yesterday, drove to houston to fill out an application. They require applicants to fill out the application in person.

The hr person gave me an interview on the spot. He said they had a tugboat in dry dock and for me to think about this career change and call him next wednesday. This will be up to 16 hour days, 14 days on the tug, then a week off. Hard physical work in the heat and cold.

I think I will probably call him back today.

I would love that schedule.

Also: always a white shirt, black pants, NICE SIMPLE tie and good shoes for an interview. I also really suggest a nice leather planner. It will impress the HR moron if they go digging for a pen or need some quick calculations done and you are Johnny Onthespot. I always bring in a couple copies of my resume on nice paper

It would be like a 2 week vacation for you and everyone else who hate my post.

Eh, it's not so much hate really for me. It's like the jester who uses the same shtick over and over again. Eventually the king will get pissed..

This is what I wore and I got the job,

But seriously, Gray. I would say blue is a good choice but not if you are wearing jeans.
