No to mention its not exactly easily concealable.

That being said, the design is sexy.

No kidding. If someone shot me with one of those, and I found out about it, I would be PISSED!

I already have my SHTF setup going, and it isnt just one rifle.

SHTF handgun box

SHTF carbine

SHTF Battle rifle

All of those stay loaded, and in soft cases, ready to grab at a moments notice (exception are the handguns, which is a hard case). There are a total of 12 loaded mags with the AR (10 in pouches, and two with a mag coupler loaded in the rifle). There are 6 20rd mags with the m1a in its soft case (5 in pouches and one in rifle).

There are two .45 (HK USP45 Tacitcal and 1911) handguns with 108 rounds of ammunition, 1 glock 19 9mm with 162 rounds of ammo, a .22 LR pistol (Walther P22, soon to be replaced by Sig Mosquito), and the S&W .460 - which can also shoot .45 Long Colt and .454 Casull. 15 rounds total for that monster.

I also keep them loaded and ready just in case I decide I want to go shooting, they just dont sit there until something is about to happen. If I had to scrounge for ammo I should be able to find something that will fit one of those.

I will probably have my CCW with me if I have to bug out as well.

Just out of curiousity...what sort of scenario would prompt you to "bug out"

Disaster in my area (Katrina), zombies, firearm confiscations.

Most likely I would stay put where I am unless some disaster struck right here, since I live 20 miles from any town, have my own well, and a generator.

I often wonder wtf goes through the minds of people like adairusmc or the OP. Is it some kind of crippling paranoia that everyone's out to get you? Are you so bored with your lives that you're secretly dreaming of a movie-like apocalyptic scenario where you get to be the gun-totting hero?

AK Pistol, Cal. 7.62x39mm

Accepts all double stack AK magazines! All metal and wood is refinished. The barrel is new US manufacture (no chrome bore lining). Comes with 2 20 rd. double stack mags. BATF compliant. Barrel: 12 1/4?, Overall: 21 3/4?, Weight: 5 1/2 lbs. (w/o magazine).

... if you really want to be a geek, slap a 50 round banana magazine on..

... or a 100 round drum:

.. I'd probably opt for a full size model with a folding stock, but if you are serious about getting as compact as possible this should do the trick.

The 50rd mags are shit. Stick with the 30rd bulgarian polymers. That drum is an RPD drum and wont work with the AK. It's designed to belt feed from it. An actual drum is going to start @ about $75-80 for a Romanian or $130-150 for a Chinese. These are bothe 75 rounders.

In Cali, it would be the possible future 8.0+ earthquake, or anything else that causes a temporary disruption of civil services. Or zombies...

despite the gun grabbers crying about what people "should need", I vaguely remember during the LA riots, certain shop owners used certain high power toys to defend their property.

They can be yours for the low price of $17,500 each.

I hate to be a party pooper but when I was buying my shotgun and thinking about getting a CA legal AR, I kept this in the back of my mind "I live in Commifornia and they hate guns here, if I have to defend myself or my family and use it on someone, its going to look real bad to the jury when they hold up an shotgun/rifle thats been modified with high tech optics/modified triggers/tac lights/bipods/bayonets/even fuzzy dice." Also, even if you are justified in shooting (and in CA thats an uphill battle), you are liable for any additional damage resulting... so overpenetration (rifles). If you hit your neighbor or some random kid on the street after your went through the perp and wall... you are still going to jail.

Most confrontations are within 5-10yds and last for 3secs. You want to protect yourself if SHTF... but you dont want to go to jail afterward either. For home defense... I bought a Mossberg 590 (8+1)... if you can't hit something with 9rds from a shotgun at 5-10 yards, you shouldn't be thinking about getting a gun until you get some more range time. Go shotgun... cheap reliable... much easier to put lead on target at short ranges... and I have yet to meet a zombie that would be able to take 9 large buck/slugs... and if I did... I'd probably be screwed anyway.

Since we're talking about zombies here, I'd prefer a scoped deer hunting rifle.

Shooting zombies in the head from distance is way more fun than up close with a shotgun etc.

Remind me to fight my way over to you if SHTF. Sounds like my chances of survival would be higher, provided you didn't shoot me on sight

Thats when the manufacturer has to pay a fee to keep that model on the list.

EDIT: To clarify, only "safe" models can be sold through dealers. If you want a handgun that is off the list, you have to get it through ppt, or familial transfer.

& personally, I feel every SHTF needs a scoped hunting rifle or a sniper rifle.

Will Smith in I am Legend showed the problem with using an AR...

A shotgun cannot hit someone 500 yards out.

In a SHTF scenario, why would you need to pick someone off at 500 yards?
