I couldn't find the cheap charger at WalMart..they wanted 20 bucks for a charger with two batteries.

I'm still running the first set on a Canon A40 -- they're going strong after quite a few pictures/flashes.

How does life compare (without considering rechargability here) to like a standard AA duracell or energizer? Do alkaline batteries still work better than rechargables, I know they did against NiCad's usually.

well for digital cameras, rechargeables last longer. for my wireless mouse and keyboard and netmd player, alkalines last longer.

Cool, thanks!

BTW, I need to make some battery packs for my cordless phone. Anyone know where to get the large heat shrink tubing that the manufactures use (to go around three AA cells) ?

When I looked at the deal, the site looked exactly like the site that had the 24 AA NiMh deal some time ago that a lot of people jumped on.

I went back to BydUsa and found the reference to batteryspace. It looks like it is the same company that did the above deal. A lot of happy customers from it.

I won't buy from bydusa.com again. The batteries start losing capacity really fast. I bought 24 pack a few month back, rarely used. Now, after a full charge, they last about only 1/3 of my year old Energizier.

I am looking for a Maha charger deal, anybody can help?

i think you can find it here
Thomas Distributing

VT-1000 charger is good, i think it's fast charger. I have both maha c-204 and VT-1000. maha recharge slower but i like it more than VT-1000 (my opinion) . It's because Maha have Recondition feature build in.

I also have this charger and it makes my batteries hot. Can't imagine that it is good for batteries. But I guess at least it chargers them which is more than I can say for another charger I have.

That is why it's important to get a smart charger. I have been using a smart charger for about 1 years now and still have those AA and AAA batteries. Batteries sometimes get pretty hot, but no damage even after 100 cycles.

That's because this is a "fast recharge" charger. They create a little heat. If it bothers you, get a slow-recharge charger. Technically, the fast ones do wear your battery down faster, but when that means you can only recharge it say 150 times instead of 170 times, don't complain, you've gotten your money's worth plus don't have to wait so long for the batteries to recharge.

There's a threat at bloatedwallet. Just search for "battery"
Thread title: Cheap rechargeable batteries at http://www.batteryspace.com
There is a 5% off coupon there.

Can't find the AT thread, I know there was one.

I just placed an order last night. $100 for a $20 kit for a friend, $30 for the best charger they have (pulse charging, full discharge, etc), $30 for 24 AA and $20 for 24 AAA, and they threw in one of those quick chargers free with a $95+ order. Received confirmation immediately and my shipment shipped last night. So far so good. The price is ~1/3 to 1/4 of in-store prices on rechargeables.

Re: batteries dying - Your better off using a high quality slow charger when you can, and saving the quick charger for when you're on the road or need it quickly. I just ordered enough that I would have enough extra that I can afford to use the slow charger. Although I have a feeling 24 AA won't last that long. Heck, remote controls alone is going to chew up half of them.

agree, i use slower charger at home and quick charger on the way. My quicker charger provided all other 6 guys enough battery source for their digital camera during my last weekend "death valley" trip. Now they have deceided to forget alkline batteries.
