Good deal in DDR from Circuit City

For the record hyundai changed thier chip divisions name to Hynix... It sounds cooler I suppose, also no longer does it sound like a car name This is posted or at least was in thier ads in Electronic Engineer's Times. A great read btw, I read about things like DDR333 before they are produced, Intels BBL packging etc etc.

My chips which are just reg. ol' SDRAM, NOT DDR, are made by CENTON. That's what the package says anyway...and I've heard thatppl have it overclocked too...

I got mine back in December for $3 for the 128Mb stick and $15 for the 256Mb sick hhehehehe (AR ofcourse)

Pricewatch lists 256MB PC2100 DDR as low as $65 shipped, no rebates. Of course, the stores that offer it at that price probably don't have a B&M location near you where you can go to complain / exchange / return if the memory doesn't work or doesn't work with your motherboard.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying the Mushkin 512MB the day it got to $55. :disgust:

the Centon sticks with VT chips overclock very well, up to 150mhz... I got them when they were 39.99 a while ago... nice sticks

I bought 2 256MB Centon sticks from CC a month ago when the price was $40 per stick. Turned out to be Hynix and are working great. I OCed my P4 1.6A to 2.1A with no problem whatsoever. Everything is default including the Heat-Sink-Fan!!!

I took a guess at the manufacturer of the VT chips the last time the Centons were in the Hot Deals forum, but was wrong. By the time Centon?s support replied, that deal was long dead. Here is the pertinent info, Hope it helps.

The module with the chips "VT3225804T-75" is made by an OEM chip manufacturer by the name of Viable Technologies.

I just bought one today and am using it right now. It's great that it has chips on only one side. If I understand my P4B266 mobo's specs correctly, I'm better off if I install DDR memory that has chips on only one side on my 2nd memory slot. If the memory I install on slot 2 has chips on both sides, my 3rd memory slot will be rendered useless.
