I just picked up the last one they had at my store. Im using it now. Looks great! Too bad I didnt have the $30off $150 code. Oh well still a great deal with the rebates.

this deal was discussed in fatwallet. seems both rebates should be good. i went down to portland where i picked one up and csr was nice kind enough to let me used an expired 12/24/04 $20 off $100 coupon, so it should work out to $160. nice monitor get it while you can

thx op, i snagged one of these at the local staples. they only had the display one left so the manager offered 15% off. got it home and it had one stuck red pixel, so i used the q-tip method and it went away. pretty nice monitor for the $ if the rebates both come through.

qtip method? care to explain?

Another thing: Does it include a DVI cable? I read at FW that it doesn't.

There is NO DVI cable included. It includes VGA and Audio (and, of course, power).

I would also like to know about the Qtip method.

yea, the monitor is sweet. But i could only use the 15 off coupon, which just got rid of my taxes. So it's pretty certain that the nec rebate will work? I'm holding off on it because there is a 14 day return policy.

well i read somewhere about rubbing gently around the pixel with a q-tip, the anandtech lcd guide thing mentions something about it also. i'm not really sure of the correct way to do it, but i noticed that if i pressed lightly near the pixel it went away, then when i released the pressure it came back. so i just lightly worked around it for a while and it went away and has yet to return.

mine was a red pixel, which the anantech guide says is impossible to get rid of, maybe I got lucky I don't know

also just so you know, this monitor took me a while to adjust, the factory preset was awful. i definately had to play with sharpness and especially "phase" to get it to look good through VGA. I'd use DVI but I have my other LCD on my only DVI output.

To use the dvi do you need 2 adapters ? One on each end ? Because I only have one that came with my vidcard. Also I just used my finger to rub out a stuck pixel on an lcd tv i just recently got. You rub around it.

I want to get the $30 dollars off, but have already bought the lcd. Can I go with the reciept and the coupon and get the discount ? Anyone done this at staples before ? That would cover what I paid in tax and since I live in cal I had to pay an extra $8 for that recycling monitor and tv stuff they have going on.

They have 20 in the DFW area but none in austin. Makes sense i guess.

Only one in Nevada is in Reno - 8 hrs drive. :disgust:

I refuse to support CA

250km to nearest one in AZ - 3 hr drive there.

NEC $90 Rebates Invalid - Will not be honored

I just spoke with an NEC rebate representative (after I checked their website for my rebate and it could find no info). At first she told me to wait 8 weeks for the rebate to go into the system (I told her it had already been about 6, it should be there). Then she asked where I purchased the monitor, I told her Staples, and she said my rebate is invalid. There are only 5 vendors that participate in NEC LCD rebates, she said, and Staples is not one of them. I told her I got the rebate form from the NEC site and there was no info concerning valid or invalid retailers, and that I had received rebates from NEC before on items purchased from staples. She said that they do have the list of valid retailers for rebates on their web site, and I was out of luck (despite my threats of Better Business Bureau, Internet Fraud, etc).

What's the next step here? That $90 rebate was the reason I purchased the monitor, I almost sure I got the rebate form straight off their website, and there was no info concerning retailer restrictions. And staples has been valid before. I hope we can complain enough here to get some action. Their rebate phone no is 1-866-327-8350. Website for checking rebates is www.nec.archway.com.
