That's an awesome deal! Especially since it comes with 2 pots & baskets. I'd jump all over this if I didn't already have my 80qt boiler (for crawfish). Hehe...I can do several turkeys at a time.

Anyways, just follow the instructions that come with the fryer. It also comes with an injector and spices. Inject that gobbler up and fry away. It couldn't be easier. You can get fancy with the spices but nothing beats a good cayenne-based injection.

Meijers in Michigan, Ohio and other midwest/great lakes states is selling a Turkey fryer for $37 this week for those people that don't want to order online. Anytime you can find one under $40 is a good deal.

ya Ace's has got them, I believe I saw one on sale for under 30 there a week or two ago.

Okay, so the cajuninjector.com "includes a 26 Qt. and 16 Qt. aluminum deep fry pots", while the one at Ace.com comes with a "30 qt. aluminum pot". Of course cajuninjector.com basically says that you only need the 30 qt for 14lb turkeys and then it tells you that in order to fully cook them, the outside will be black.

Question: Do I need a 26Qt and a 16Qt? Could I not just cook smaller birds in the larger pot? I'm jut trying to figure out if the additional stuff that comes with the $45 kit is worth it, or if I should pick up a $40 (or $30 kit) locally.

Also, how much oil does it take? I know it'a FAQ question, but the answer is unsatisfactory for me. From the FAQ:

Use enough oil to totally submerge the turkey.

Put your turkey in the empty pot, fill it with water to submerge, take the turkey out and mark the water hight. That's how much oil you'll need.

These things are very dangerous. Consumer Reports tested them and wouldn't rate them. They are very unstable, 5 gallons of 350+ degree peanut oil spilling on you would be disastrous. Also sometimes the water in the turkey pops and splashes hot oil.
Be very careful if you use one!

A friend of mine and I have used one of the turkey fryers from Sam's Club for several months now and it works just fine and is more than stable enough. As for deep frying things, try whole chickens too. They come out nice and crispy. Damn good tasting too. Enjoy.

btw, if you are allergic to peanuts like me, you can also use grapeseed oil instead of peanut oil. it actually has a higher flashpoint too but much more expensive.

Oh Jesus Christ... As long as you're not an idiot to spill the oil all over yourself, it's as simple as boiling something. That is the most moronic thing I've ever heard. It's not like you're dealing with 5 gallons of highly radioactive material.

Yeah! Great idea! Also, Christmas presents will be cheaper the day after Christmas...so wait until then to buy them! Then on Valentine's day, buy your roses on Feb 15th, and you'll save like 75%!!! What a deal!
