Here's what I did--took print out of RAD 5 showing price of $287.99 to local OD.Asked manager if he would pricematch--he said he'd rather have the business than let the online guys get it. I walked out with a new RAD 5 for $287.99 and a $30 rebate form. Now if I get the $30 this will be a sweeeeet deal!!BTW, the manager told me to bring in any OD online offers and he would pricematch---I'm not certain but from what I read on this forum I don't think this happens very often.

Expandable: What you have are two "stuck" pixels. Kind of like dead pixels, but always on. (They're either red, green or blue, right?) My dad's 15" LCD has one green stuck pixel. It's not very noticeable, if you don't specifically look for it.

I am right in thinking that when you have a dead pixel or a stuck pixel, you basically have no choice but to live with it? In that case, it seems that LCD's kind of suck. Of course, the lcd on my laptop has been working fine with no dead pixels for 2 years now.

Got it, went to office depot, showed them the print out from their website, they priced matched it and it came out to 311.03...then minus a 30 rebate comes to about 280 after everything ... lets just hope the monitor lives up to its word

To fix stuck pixels do this:

Firmly (but not too hard) press and massage (make circular motions) the screen on the stuck pixel. The stuck pixel is now unstuck!

Sometimes, it takes a bit more pressure and a bit more rubbing.

Hey if you have WinXP, check this out with your new LCD monitor: MS ClearType

BTW, for an LCD is it better to leave it on all the time, or turn it off after 30 min idle, etc?

I ordered one of these last night for pick-up at my local OD. I may do the match with the manager cause he treats my pretty good with close-outs. I got a nice leather brief case that was $99 marked to $75, and he gave me another 25% off that. Great case at a good price. Well, I digress.

Anyone use 2 monitors on 1 computer? I was watching TechTV last night and they had a guy on giving a speil on LCD"s. He said that rather than get a 17" or 18" LCD, get 2 - 15"ers and use them together. You'll get way more screen real estate for a lot less price. And, windows can easily handle 2 monitors. It sounds like a neat Idea. I guess I have to get an additional monitor output to do it though.

He also said to expect LCD prices to start going UP .?.? Demand caught supply and at the current prices, manufacturers are loosing money on the screens they are selling now. Maybe its true, due to the bankruptcy filings going on now. Well, off to OD and then the gym. I'll test the monitor later on and post my opinion.

OOHH Yeah, I almost forgot. WHY do the 15" LCD's have a .29 dot pitch and the 17" have .26" ?? I have not seen ANY 15" LCD's with smaller dot pitch than .29. Just curious.

I picked up one today at OD B&M for 287.99 plus tax (before $30 rebate). I had printed my shopping cart at officedepot.com, and the manager matched the price with the 20% off online coupon. They also gave me a return period that lasts through 14 days after Xmas.

Today (12/15) is the last day of purchase for the $30 rebate.

today I went to Sam's Club in Potomac Mill (DC) to renew my membership. Then I spotted a KDS RAD-7s sitting on the clearance rack priced $469.97. I kinda hesitated if I should grap this one or not becuz its an open item. After I asked the manager and make sure it's returnable, I went ahead and purchased it. At the cashier, the price rang up as $422.97!! I was holding up my breath not to scream out. I paid, rushed back home and opened this puppy. I was thinking that I am lucky if there are only couple of dead pixels on this LCD. turned it on and checked very carefully ... guess what!! no dead pixel... not even one!!!! I screamed out loud this time.... I love this LCD... I tried DVD movies as well as the game - Unreal. It works out perfectly... and the price is the killer....

If I didn't get this deal.. I wud've bought the Rad-5 from OD today. But now I'm extremely happy with my rad-7. some how the screen looks like bigger than my 19" (CRT) NEC.

I got in on this back in September (rebate still has not shown up) and I started having the blank white/silver screen problem that alot of people complained about. I called the KDS KARES program last thursday and they sent a new Rad-5x that arrived today. Even though its a different monitor its still damn nice and the specs seem to be the same. So as far as Ch. 11 affecting thier warranty service I would say it hasnt.

AlphalphaPB, you're right on the money. Actually I got two of them like that. I will try the tweak later. Thanks.

The 20% link at Ableshoppers dot com is still good!

I returned to OD today and repurchased it in order to get the $50 rebate instead of the $30 rebate.
