Being a proud owner, it's a great receiver for its price class. I paid $719 in a combo deal through Crutchfield last X-mas. At $399, it's a steal! Nice find OP!
DPLIIx converts 2.0, 5.1, and DD EX into 6.1 or 7.1. The real advantage is 2.0 to 6.1 or 7.1, as 5.1 channel sound is better matrixed to 6.1 or 7.1 via DD-EX or DTS-ES. The TX-SR702 can use DTS Neo:6 to convert stereo up to 6.1 or 7.1.
