good digital camera?

my niece has money from her b-day, and she knows her uncle is into electronics (me) but im not that big into cameras...

what would you recommend? ($120 limit)

I would recommend something that does NOT use AA/AAA batteries.

Something with a metal body and integrated lens cover.

Low-end Canon Digital Elph series will probably last her through her high-school/college years; they fit into purses nicely as well.

Fuji F20 is another good option, as are the Sony W-series.

A recertified F10 would blow the doors off that newer Fuji. Not all their models use their best SuperCCD sensor, but the F10/F11/F20/F30/F31d all do.

Not really; it just means it had a defect and the factory corrected it.

If you're worried it will look less than new, any camera will, after spending a few days banging around a teenager's purse.

Yes, there are better digicams but for $99 it's a decent deal.

I'd get the Fuji V10 from Amazon for something like $130.
Its small, stylish camera with a 3" lcd.
Theres also a $30/$50 rebate going around but that maybe over.
Still a damm deal for $130.
Its at $139 now but it goes up and down.

Forget about picture quality, she probably won't know the difference between 3 MP and 7 MP. Just get something small and portable with good battery life, and probably a decent amount of memory for storing the millions of useless pictures teenage girls take.

As for a specific suggestion... I have no idea.
