Still looking for a DVD player? Well, the pioneer I was talking about was the Pioneer DV-260 that available at Walmart. Its multisystem (PAL/NTSC), progressive and apparently a region free hack turned up. I just checked the dvdhelp to see if there's a new rev to avoid and everyone generally likes it, but are complaining that they can't play raw MPEGs, where as before they could, so perhaps there is a new rev out.
BUT, I still say the Phillips 727 is the best. Frys still sells them, so they should available to other retailers. I wouldn't get to caught up in getting a name player. My Sony was pathetic, and I paid a crap load for it. The no name brands are the ones that give you all the bells and whistles. For $35-$50, I'm sure you'll get your money's worth.
