I'm going to be near UCLA next weekend for the whole weekend and was wondering what good food places are around there from anyone who lives around there. 15-20 miles away from UCLA. Doesn't matter what it is just make sure it's good I guess. Any ideas?

Fathers Office is a MUST see. Not *that* close to UCLA, but worth it.

Also, check out Shamshari Grill on Westwood Blvd, south of Wilshire.. AMAZING plate of fillet mignon for only about $16. NOT to be missed. Go there HUNGRY, you seriously get almost a pound of BBQed fillet. Best deal in town.

In Westwod itself you also might want to try Damon and Pythias (spelling) ? It is not amazing food, but its a cool little joint and it has good sandwiches and salads. Not a must see though.

Oh, you also MUSTTTTTTTTTT get a cookie from DeeDee Reese. Not sure on the spelling, but say that to anyone within 5 miles of UCLA and they will know what you are talking about.

Asian Food - only japanese food is good around westwood. people might argue, but it's a fact. whatever you do, DO NOT go eat at that goddamn noodle place next to diddy reese. god that shit was horrid.

Santouka @Mitsuwa Santa Monica, off rose/10. It's in a Mitsuwa food court, but generally regarded as one of the best ramen joints in SoCal

Steak = not in your budget, sorry Might try a trip to k-town and go eat some kbbq. Don't go to manna.

Sandwiches = father's office. there's a cheesesteak place in westwood but I thought it was forgettable.

North of Westwood in North Hollywood is Skaf's. Hole in the wall, ridiculously good lebanese food. Killer kefta(kefla? whatever) and hummus, excellent kebabs as well

Check out the insane mexican food in LA. King taco or el taurino FTMFW.

What would our budget to be to get this good steak you would be recommending?

Be sure to check out Manna Korean BBQ if you like meat. It's about 15 mins away, and dinner is like $16.99 (expect to spend around $25 per person). Btw, korean bbq is all you can eat.

Pink's Hot Dogs is pretty popular, and so is Roscoe's Chicken and waffles.

I repeat, DO NOT GO TO MANNA. there is so much better out there.

re: steak

30+ is probably where I'd start it at. Taylor's would be right at that price point

If you are there on a Saturday, you HAVE to go here

Text

They're only open until 5p, closed on Sundays. Neighborhood looks seedy, but it's not.

Taylor's

Goddamn, to further refute PetunZ, do not go to pinks. That shit is garbage. FUCKING GARBAGE. You're fairly close to top dog no? That would be infinitely better than Pink's

Roscoe's is respectable though, albeit a bit pricey.

Summary: Do not go to the following

- Manna
- Pinks
- Tito's tacos
- Johnnie's pastrami

...

That's all the westside tourist traps I can think of for now

Hal's Bar and Grill in Venice on Abbot Kinney.

Dude, I am telling you Shamshari Grill. You literally get a pound of perfectly grilled fillet (beef) for like $17. It is the ultimate meal, unless you are willing to spend in the $40+ range.

Diddy Reese. The most perfect (and cheapest) cookie in the entire world. On Broxton inbetween Mr Noodle and Socko's subs (skip both.)

Noodle Planet is cool if you just want to grab some Asian type food, since they have everything there. There's good Japanese food on Sawtelle inbetween Santa Monica and Olympic.

You might want to try out either Pinkberry, or Red Mango, just to indulge in the fro-yo craze. I think Red Mango's yogurt tastes MUCH better.

Enzo's. On the corner of broxton and I can't remember. But it's across the street from Jerry's deli. If lenny is out on the street, you'll get the authentic brooklyn experience.
