Good free Email site?

Since the year 2000 I've been using lycos.com for my Email, which ceases free operation tonight. I pay, or my Emails disappear. Therefore, it would behoove me greatly to move all Emails to a new site. Actually, there really aren't any particularly important Emails, but still.

I got a Google Email but forgot the password, and besides Google seems to be getting a little nosy these days. I used to have a yahoo Email, long since defunct, but think I wouldn't mind trying again. I have a junk Email account at mail.com, but I noticed it didn't have a search function for the free Email. I'd like a search function if possible.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I use Gmail for my primary email for all important stuff, and I have a free email at Mail.com for when I sign up for things like grocery store perks, promotional emails, etc. where they sell your email address to other businesses. The Mail.com site has ads which I kinda find annoying, but since they support it being free, I deal with it.

I'm a Yahoo user since 1997 or something ridiculous. I've actually got one account that started as a throwaway account that I use just for signing up for spam or things I don't really want associated with me, and one I try to keep clean but give to places I'm actually interested in. Most of my usernames for sites belong to that account. Then I have a Gmail account for actual important things and it looks a smidge more impressive than a yahoo.com address.

I absolutely hate the way both of them handle replying to emails, though, so I wouldn't recommend either of them.

Gmail by far, plus it has all the other stuff like drive that I use all the time.

I was on ATT since I had DSL and 8 years ago moved and got Fios and kept paying like 8 dollars a month to keep the same ATT email. I've always had a Gmail account but just too lazy to go through and update all the sites I visit with my Gmail email plus all my friends and stuff. But thats all over, it's down to just gmail now.

I like Outlook.com personally, but I'm partial since I can easily pipe it into Outlook through Office 2016. I also use gmail, yahoo, and an old address from my college days. I prefer Outlook out of all of these.

netcourrier.com They've been around forever, and don't have a business model of pawing through your mail. They have a free tier, but the premium is very affordable, and is what I have.

disroot.org is donationware. They haven't been around that long, so who knows what the future brings? I donated money cause I like what they're doing.

Another vote for Gmail. Hotmail/Outlook is very frustrating with their nearly random 2 tier separation (focused and other), causing you to look through tons of spam in both partitions to find your mail.

Out of curiosity, is there a webmail client that blocks remote content in e-mails by default? Because gmail failing to do that barely qualifies it as an e-mail client in my opinion, more like a spammer's delight.

Outlook.com and Gmail.com are my favorites by far. Would definitely recommend either of them.

Gmail, Outlook(Hotmail) and Yahoo. These are the only services which use to offer free e-mail at first, don't have any idea about other services as I have been using them for a very long time now.
