I need a good set of headphones with a built in mic for using voice communication in games. Thanks.

Plantronics makes good stuff. I have a set made by them, works great. Sounds good, great mic. An excellent piece of hardware.

Beyerdynamic make the DT234, the DT231, which is a highly regarded sub-$100 phone, plus a mic.

Plantronics or Labtec for $25 - $30 (list price) is good.

I have the Labtec Axis 502, which has a good reputation, but has two downsides:
  • Sound quality pales in comparison to my previous $15 Koss KTX Pro headphones that wore out.
  • The boom microphone isn't as snugly crafted as I would prefer; when I pivot it up against the left earpad when I'm not using it, the boom has a slight tendency to drift down. This is a result of less than a year of moderate (heavy at times), but careful use.
If you're the type of person who slaps the boom mike back/forth, up/down you might loosen the fit. Note that nothing is breaking away so the overall construction is solid; it's just that when the mike is stowed away near the earpad, it doesn't snugly stay there 100%.

This is the only headset I've owned (purely for gaming voice comm, not speech recognition), so I'd probably give Plantronics a try next time I'm in the market (not anytime soon).

Radio Shack should have a good selection of Koss Headphones with boom mic's (probably rebaged as Optimus).

I got my Optimus Pro 50-MX (Koss SB-30) set for $25 on clearance. Look by the stereo equipment in the store, the headsets by the computer stuff appear to be of much lower quality.

Good Luck,

Good Luck,
I have a falling apart Optimus right now, and it's decent. Here's what I'm looking for: I'm not an audiophile, so soundquality doesn't have to be uber super, I'd like it to fit over the ear, not on top, I'd like some good bass and of course, the mic.

I highly recommend Plantronics. They make very comfortable over the ear versions with Mics. Prices range from 30.00 - 119.00. Depending on the qulaity of speaker and mic you want. For Roger Wilco and gaming, the hihger end Plantronics DSP500 and above have the best sound bar none. When people connect up to a group of me and my friends using those, everyone always asks what headphone/mic we are using because the sound output from it is always good.

So I recommends Plantronics, they have models for just about eneryones wallet.

But can you find them at Worst Buy or KompUSSR?

I bought a .Audio 90 from KompUSSR (plantronics) for $30, very good sound quality and design. Have yet to use the microphone because I need to go find an adaptor for the miniplug.

Gave my lil brother the Plantronics Audio .90 for his birthday. I have the Labtec Axis-502. Both are nice but the Audio .90 sounds alot better and fits better. On the other hand, the mic on the 502 works better and the 502 is lite-errr.
