Good heatsink or not?

I am considering getting this sink (pic) from EB*Y (please no flames) for $10. It looks like it will do a great job but would like some input. It would be going on my P3 700, on CUSL2-C, when my sx1030 comes in next week.

Here are the spec on it:
Fan Size:50x50x20mm Ultra-Quiet Ball Bearing Fan.
HeatSink:60x53x40mm Folded Fin COPPER Heatsink.
Fan 6000+RPM, 19.8CFM, 27dBA

Thanks in advance.

Gut reaction from me is that it doesn't appear to have much surface area. I also wonder how a 6000-rpm fan can be "ultra-quiet." Wish I had a good recommendation for an alternate solution that is only $10. When you look at what you're spending on the other high-quality components you just mentioned, spending $30 or so for an Alpha 6035 with a ultra-quiet fan doesn't really seem like a waste. Just my 2 cents' worth. phamcomputer.com has some very quiet fans and so does plycon.com. I ordered a couple of the 16dB 60mm Adda fans for my outrageously-noisy BookPC, so I should know early next week if they are as good as they claim.

The nearest fan that I can find to this one (spec wise) runs at 33/34dBA($6.50). The Y-S Tech fans on my P3125 Alpha are 34dBA each and they aren't that loud, actually they are quieter the my PS fan.

For another 10 bucks you can get a real heatsink, not just a noisemaker billed as "ultraquiet."

Copper isn't what it is cracked up to be. I'm no physicist, but I guess copper radiates more heat than aluminum conducts - or whatever.

Maybe try the GlobalWIN FOP32-1.

I'd also like to point out how thin the base is. Look at any Alpha, Taisol or GlobalWin heatsink (2cooltek has photos, for a quick example or two.). You will see that the base is much thicker, allowing the CPU's heat to be spread outwards so that the fins at the edges get to help. Now look again at that $10 one. See what I'm saying? The heat is not given a path outwards from the core.

I am considering it because it is copper which has a better thermal conductivity than aluminum which are basicaly the rest of the sinks out there (hedgehog excluded). I wish the pic showed a better view of the base myself. I figure that it is going to be better than the intel sink that is on my CPU now.

i think just because it's made out of copper, doesnt mean it will get more heat out than aluminum... a lot of the heat transfer also comes from the design of the heatsink

copper tends to retain heat much longer than aluminum that is why alphas only use a copper plate instead of 100% copper. heat dissipation is key, not materials.

Definately go with a name brand HS.. something at least AMD app'd.. otherwise your risking it with a possible shoddy design.. Alpha, Taisol.. anyone!?
