Good movies with bad actors

Thought of another: I don't really like Hugh Jackman at all but The Prestige was great IMO

And what's with all the hate on Tom Cruise? He is a cocky and emotional actor on the screen. He does his own stunts, does his own driving and he is actually very talented!

I like Tom Cruise, as long as he's casted correctly. I personally thought he was pretty good in Lions for Lambs. which was not that great of a movie, but w/e.

oh, and for the topic - Office Space. Personally i think Ron livingston's a terrible actor (didn't like him in BoB either), but office space was hilarious.

He's cocky and emotional ALL THE TIME, which means he's not acting at all... he's just himself. Every character he's done is the same, and that's how he is in real life. If the character you're playing is exactly like you, then it's NOT acting. It's just like Michael Sera. He's plays the weird, quirky shy guy in every movie/show he's in because that how he is... that's him. They aren't acting they're just reading.

The topic is GOOD movies with bad actors. Point Break and the Day the Earth Stood Still were very bad movies.

The ultimate GOOD movie with a bad actor is the original Star Wars trilogy. Mark Hamill is terrible.

So... you liked his movies though? This isn't just another 'shit on the actors you hate' thread, it's trying to find movies you still really enjoy despite having those actors you don't care for in it.

I actually liked the Transformer movies, Eagle Eye (is that the right name), and Disturbia.

And I liked the first 33% of the last Indiana Jones movie.

This seems like a pretty hard thing to answer because part of what makes a good movie is good actors. I Guess ill have to agree with the original star wars and mark hamill being bad, but he wasnt that bad. Id say the new star wars too but the movies were pretty all around bad.
Maybe disturbia too, I really hate shilo whatever his name was, and he plays the same freaking part in every movie. They could just cut and past him from movie to movie and no one would know.

District 9? I thought the movie was ok but a lot of people thought it was good. There are no good actors to be named of in it that I can think of.

Agreed with Cruise with the vast majority of his roles.

Very much disagree with Pitt. Seeing him in Snatch, Inglorious Bastards, Fight Club, and some other ones... I don't see a lot of other actors pulling off such different roles so well. I like him more often than not.

That's why I said it was close.

When he's good, he's great but he's done some pretty shitty movies also, IMO.

I think we can also agree that he's been in some good movies. Just might not agree on which ones.
The Matrix was obviously awesome.
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure was good in a stupid way.
Parenthood was good and he was even good in it.

The only one I can think of is Heat. Not rally bad actors, but bad acting. its always been a favorite; I rewatched it recently and there were a few scenes where the dialogue and acting just fell flat.

agreed. But he was great in A Scanner Darkly. ...but maybe because he is also a vapid shell of flesh in real life? :hmm:

Tom Cruise in everything--he almost completely ruined Magnolia.
