These foreign terrorists you speak of are what they are: foreign. At least most of them. They want Iraq to fail, because if Iraq turns into a vibrant democracy (which it will some day), it will be a crushing defeat for them.

Falluja was just the start of major conflict in Iraq, there are many battles left and many terrorists to kill. These murderers know how important the success or failure of Iraq is to them and to the US.

All cracks and jabs aside, is there ANY real, scientific data on how the Iraqis in general are reacting to our invasion? I know you see anecdotal stories of kids cheering our soldiers followed by reports of insurgents, some of whom are Iraqis, attacking those same soldiers. But has anyone made any attempt to figure out how the people of Iraq in general actually feel? Is that even possible, or do we just assume whatever benefits our particular side?

Nope, Alistar just wants to cheerlead from the sidelines. I wish he'd tell us about the wood chipper and Saddam's thuggery again, just so I can be reminded how the 100,000 Iraqi civilians killed since March 03 are better off today than they were two years ago.

I talked to my brother, who is currently in Iraq, via email and he stated that from his day to day dealings with Iraqis he gets the impression that around 90% of them are glad he/they are there. He said he feels media has largely skewed this viewpoint.

Anyhow, I hope to talk to him more when he comes home.
