I am so sorry the world has tilted for you at the moment.

For whatever it's worth, I became a single father and sole custodian when my son was 2 1/2. I wouldn't wish a broken family on my worst enemy, but I promise: you have what is most important! I also sincerely hope you have ALL that is important in the nearest future.

My son is 18 now and time has shown me that life is what we make of the situations we are dealt. Keep your chin up and know you WILL get the opportunities you deserve for a complete and happy life.

Mike,

I wish you the best.

Take care of family and the rest will fall in line in time ... Please take a moment to love yourself so that you can love others ... What we cannot do for ourselves, we usually have time doing for others.

I am chocked up, I came here thinking things were pretty bad, and you offered your support, more than I was ever prepared for. Dennis, and everyone Thank you.

I am glad to be a part of such a caring compassionate community.

Sounds very good. I'll be keeping you in my prayers anyhow: you, your wife and your kids. God bless!

Mike, why don't you let the SCSI drive just sit for a day and spend some quality time with your family? I'm really glad things turned out good for you, your wife and kids, at least for the time being.

I had some troubles with my fiance about computer obsession some time ago as well - she didn't like the idea of a 4 crunchers in my bedroom . But all it took was some talking, some compromising (2 crunchers in my bedroom now) and the power of good will along with the mutual agreement that one loves the other. Sounds pretty simple, doesn't it?

I sure hope the two of you will stay together. I remember you once sent me a picture of you wife, your kids and yourself and I really think that as a family you make a good fit!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Mike,

Here's hoping this is just a rough patch and things work out the way you want in the end.

Best wishes, of course. And be strong.

Edit: Looks like I'm behind the curve again, But that's great news. Still have my best wishes.

I guess this means I'll be trouble-shooting a SetiQueue again.

LOL most likely yes but down the road , boss , down the road,

Christian, Yeah man , I hear you. But, It isn't about the computers lol
She doesn't mind the time I spend on them, or the amount of them.
She just thinks we need more fun in our lives.

Don't get me wrong, I do need to spend less time on the computers and give more quality time to my family. I used to go with them on outings to the parks, we used to go camping, we took long drives together etc...

After I got hurt then a lot of these became unbearable. Riding in the car made me hurt for days, so I eventually stopped doing the family things. I have bowed out of 90% of these lately.. I just can't take long rides in the car like i used to. She took it as I don't want to be with them. I can't blame her for that.

I have gained almost 80 lbs in the last 3 years and that isn't helping. Monday I am going to join the local gym and see if I can't get started fixing this. I miss our outings as well.

Every morning I get up and take the wife and now sister to work, I take the children to school, by the time I get back I am starting to hurt pretty good. I try to keep the laundry and chores up, I make dinner. Then I pick the wife up and drive home. By the time I get home I am in quite a bit of pain. This is when she wants me to go and do the things
we had always done.

It seems I have become a stick in the mud
I aim to fix that. I also want to get a night job to help get me out of the house more and be able to give back the funtasia trips etc... from my pockets.

As much time as I spend on the computers, Its usually because I am hurting. I try to learn new things but being in pain, my concentration isn't always there. Poor jim has to remind me where I am half the time. I have a hard time remembering the user;/passwords of the projects, a lot of times I forget the install process etc..

I know if I shed the extra weight it won't hurt as bad.

Sorry, got long winded. You get the picture.

Mike

That's really great Mike, I really think you are on the right track.
I've been there - done that. If you find a way to control the weight that doesn't cause too much more pain I'd sure like to hear about it.

Man I hear you bro.

It aint:

Sweeping
Mopping
Standing
Bendingover
walking short distances aren't too bad
jogging
sit ups
pushups
lifting weights
swimming

I know its not going to be easy, that's part of the reason I put it off for so long.

I am either taking them to Tony Romas or Funtasia on sunday

Way to go man. I don't know you very well, but I can say that the hardest part is making the decision to make a change. Come up with a plan that you can follow. It might be tough to get it started, but once you settle into it, you'll wonder how you ever got by any differently. You've taken the hardest step, now you just need to take one more little one and you'll be set
