So many great games, cheap and DRM free, and most will run on anything including netbooks.

Classic FPS
- Duke Nukem
- Blood
- Painkiller Black
- Unreal Tournament 2004
- Serious Sam

Turn-based strategy
- Heroes of Might & Magic 2, 3
- Master of Orion 1+2
- Jagged Alliance 2

RPG
- Planescape Torment
- Baldur's Gate 1, 2
- Icewind Dale
- Neverwinter Nights

Adventure
- The Longest Journey

Those are good ones I've played (and still own). What on the list do others recommend?

Great sale, but I'll wait until the inevitable Steam's holiday sale which I suspect will start next week if it stays in the same schedule as their last year's holiday sales, which I missed completely, I won't miss it this year, I'm fully prepared.

My wallet doesn't like Steam during the holidays.

Being a bit of a collector, I basically never buy download versions of games, but with Divine Divinity's "Re-Mastered" version only being available as a download, I suppose there's no reason not to get it now for 2.99. Has ugly box art anyway, won't miss it.

Thanks for the heads up, OP.

Wow. I want to buy almost all of them. Luckily I already have a few, but I think I will have to get Under a Killing Moon, since I can't get my original copy to run on XP, and it seems that GoG is great at fixing those types of problems.

If you like pinball, I highly recommend the Pro Pinball Series.

Pro Pinball Big Race USA
Pro Pinball Fantastic Journey

Thinking about getting one of the D&D games. I'm leaning towards Planescape, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to read so much (I'd probably much rather read the novelization that someone made of the game). My second choice would probably be IWD.

Edit: If anyone does buy Duke Nukem 3D, download eduke32... it's an absolute MUST to play the game.

It should be noted that a lot of these games will run well on netbook class hardware.

IWD is at the opposite end of the spectrum, much more action oriented compared to Planescape. Baldur's Gate is more in the middle, with a fairly solid mix of both combat and story. Also, don't count Temple of Elemental Evil out either, it's another on the action side of things, but with a much more accurate representation of D&D rules, so the combat is quite a bit different than the others.

Saw this last night, was waiting for D&D games to go on sale

Bought BG1/2, Icewind Dale 1/2, Planescape, Temple of Elemental Evil and NWN 1 only as I already had two.

Not bad, cost me 39$ and will give me hundreds of hours of playtime.

Amazing deals. I'm considering repurchasing PST just because it was such a sweet game.

Between Baldur's Gate 1, Baldur's Gate 2, and Icewind Dale, which do you guys think is the best?

i believe most GOG.com games come with extras like original box art and manuals.

Yeah, but a Jpeg of part of the box and a PDF manual is not even close to having big box's with flaps, spiral bound manuals, cloth and paper maps, stacks of inserts, various cd holding apparatus's, etc; and that's not even getting into collector's editions.

It may not be for everyone, but I enjoy all the loot.

I'd have to say BG2 is the best of those games. IWD was an excellent action RPG, but BG2 had a great blend of combat and story. BG1 is good, but it feels VERY rough after playing BG2. There's mods like TuTu and such that allow you to play it with the BG2 version of the Infinity Engine so its not quite as rough though.

Its mostly clutter that just builds up. You never do much with it, and it simply gathers dust. It looks cool, but ultimately, its a waste of money.

To you maybe, to me it's part of the experience so don't word it as fact, the condescending tone is especially unneeded.

Downloading BG2 right now (never played it before). There goes my weekend.
They also have The Witcher 2 available for preorder with a free game as a bonus

The games are Gothic 2 Gold Edition, Realms of Arkania 1+2, Realms of Arkania 3, Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity. Pretty awesome

So what's Divine Divinity like? Is it a hack and slash or more a traditional type of RPG?

I played The Dragon Knight Saga recently and enjoyed it. I presume this game is what starts it all (DKS mentions the lore quite a bit and I didn't understand a lot of the references)

I bought all the Tex Murphy games, and MoO 1&2, but I forgot to pick up Master of Magic. Looking at this list, there are a few others I want to grab too.

There was no condescending tone in there. I've bought boxed packages before, but we are talking about decade old games here. The game itself is whats important now.
