a gf2 can hit 50fps because it is not a dx9 card. it does not render all the features dx9 cards have, therefore, the gf2 card can stay above 50fps. i'm pretty sure the 6200 is a dx9 card, so performance/fps should be relatively low. if it is possible, return the 6200 and get a used 9800 pro; it cost under $100 on ebay. it is a dx9 card and still a very capable card, even though it is about 3 generations old.

Yeah i really don't think a 256mb 6200 is a good buy. It's probably not even going to be that cheap since it has a lot of ram. I'd return it if you can, and get a used 9800 pro like others have said. If you can afford to spend a bit more, get a 6600 gt, preferable 256mb.

Actually it probably only "supports" 256MB. It probably has like 32-64MB onboard and then it grabs the rest from system memory. Another reason it's so slow.

But all the places advertise it as 256MB and in tiny letters it says "Supports up to" or something like that.

so this one only supports 256?
and this has 32-64 onboard, unlike the others which are actually up to 256 onbard?

The 6200TC cards aren't much better than integrated graphics. They have small amounts of onboard ram(I have one, has 16mb) and use system ram for the rest. I haven't tried gaming on mine, I scored a whopping 4200 in 3dmark01 with the thing..might be able to play at 800x600 with medium settings, or 1024x768 with low settings. Like somebody else said, the GF2 doesn't have DX-9 capabilities, so it's not doing as much work as the 6200TC will have to do. I have half life 2, I can run it on the 6200TC if you want to see how it comes out.

Definatly don't want to go cheap on the PSU, I have first hand experience of what a cheap PSU can do. Had a 400w powmax, and it went pow and took my $180 motherboard with it. You can get a decent 400w Fortron for $40 on newegg, I highly recomend you do that, the PSU that comes with that case is low quality. A quality 350w PSU is better than a generic 500w PSU.

What kind of memory??

Your linking skills suck!!

I don't think it looks too good (sorry) why bother to ask about it if you already ordered it.

the 6200tc truley sucks since it uses onboard ram. hell, even a gf4 ti, which is over 4 years old and half the price used, is much better than that card. return the 6200tc if you can.

Definately not the one I would have put together, but fine for a budget rig. But as everyone has said, that video card is crap and if your only use for the pc is to play games, I have a strong feeling that you will be kicking yourself for that choice in vid card.
