The earbuds that came with the ipod have decent sound quality but hurt the hell out of my hears after 10 minutes.

I was going to get headphones but have changed my mind.

Im willing to spend about 20 bucks and would appreciate some input on some comfortable ear buds.

Hello Noob!
Try searching for "ear buds". I know we had this exact same issue a short while ago.

My own personal choice is the yellow sony sport buds.
You can probably get them for less then 20 bucks.
They have decent bass response for such small speakers.

Are they bigger or smaller then ipods ear buds?

I need someone that is smaller then those because they hurt my ear.
I've bought ear buds in the past and they sucked...

thanks for the help

Ok the term is impendence, are there any ear buds with a inpedence thats smaller then 16 ohm? Obviously my ipod headphones are 16 ohm so I think I need something smaller to avoid sore ears....I did some research but could not find any.

Well firstly, they look the same shape as the ipod buds (and I'm assuming that the shape is the problem). If you're talking about the impedence, those have higher ohms than the iPod.

I'd say stick to cupped headphones if you can't deal with earbuds, it's not that big of a deal (unless you tend to store it in your bookbag or some other small space).

what do you mean cupped headphones?

I listed the creative ear phones, even though there 32 impendence because i thought maybe they would be more comfortable. They sit on the outter part of the ear rather then shoved in the hole.

i require ear buds, or ear phones...something thats 2 pieces..not 1.

Try getting the SONY MDR-EX71 they have 3 types of sizes of earbud sizes that come with it (rubber)
Small/Med/Large
They're a bit pricy, but I like them cuase they make a good seal

Ear buds are uncomfortable. Period.
If you want it in your ear, get IEMs (like Shure E2, Westone UM-1, Ety ER6i, etc.), or in-ear buds (like the previously mentioned EX71).

If you're going to get in-ear buds (I call em semi-iems) I'd go for the JVC FX-55's or the Panasonic HJE50's over the sony's. Their cable build quality is much better and supposedly have a less microphonic effect from the cord. I went from an EX51 to a HJE50 and notice a much clearer sound, less muddy bass, and a sturdier cord.

But if you can settle for clip-on headphones then the Koss KSC-75's are the ones to get. They're suprisingly comfy for clip-ons and are under $20. Browse head-fi.org to see what all the buzz is about on these things.

I use the SONY over the ear buds - the "Live" version that ran me about $25 at Walmart. There is another cheaper version of those that are white and orange that I think were mentioned earlier in this forum that are the "Sport" version for about $15 - 20 at the Walmart.

if you're than I'm also

note to the OP: Impedance has nothing to do with the shape/size of the headphones... and the ohm is not a measurement of physical size like the milimeter, inch, etc...

i cant stand earbuds.. fall out, uncomfortable.

i'd suggest ear clips like koss ksc 35 or ksc75 (same basic thing)
or for headphones, a pair of koss porta pros

they all use the same drivers but sound fantastic, great bass and excellent mids and highs for a more than reasonable price.

they are truley the best deal for cheaper headphones, comparable to some 60-$100 pairs from koss/grado/sennheiser according to head-fi.org
