I have been searching for memory for this motherboard that I am getting. I was looking on pricewatch.com and they have a bunch of Generic stuff. Is this any good or is it very cheap? Right now I am leaning towards the Kingston pc2700 512mb. Is this one any good or can I get a better one for around the same price?

I'm a big fan on Mushkin memory myself. Never had any problems with it, plus the 3200 stuff I have runs at 2-2-2 by default (you also get 10% off Muskin stuff by entering ANAND in the coupon code place). It's about $100 for 512 MB of CAS2 Muskin 2700 (before that 10% off coupon)

Corsair is also highly rated by most people (though I haven't used their stuff before) and Kingston (again, I never used it).

frankly, if theres one generic thing that i dont trust its RAM...
pay a couple extra bucks and get samsung, corsair or mushkin... i dont like crucial but that doesnt meant theyre not good.

look at www.ncix.com theyre selling 512mb samsung pc2700 for just under 100 canadian last time i checked, and personally, im happy to only spend 100 bucks on quality pc2700.

i always buy crucial, in no small part because of free second day shipping and the lifetime guarantee. not to say other name brand versions aren't good, but i've just always had success with crucial (until one time, but they replaced it)

No problems so far with Kingston Value pc2700 Ram $40(BestBuy) per 512mb stick. Winbond chips.

I am running them on an 8IPE1000 pro in dual channel mode with a 2.6c proc.

I would say the Crucial memory. The others are okay, and I have Kingston ValuRAM in another PC. I wouldn't really fault memory for how far it overclocks, because not everyone intends to push memory to the max. That aside, this pair does go very far when I tried it, but I have it run at 333 as it is intended, with fast settings and a 333Mhz FSB on my Athlon XP. I would recommend Crucial because the memory is of very good quality.

I used to buy a lot of Crucial memory especially PC133. Now I only buy that for work computers, systems that won't be running any games and stuff like that, pure work. Samsung ram seems good too especially for the price. For my personal system and gaming systems I've used Kingston, Corsair and Mushkin. All three are good, but in the end I tend to choose Mushkin. Kingston has been inconsistent for me when it comes to overclocking. Corsair always overclocks well for me but seemed to react strange in some boards, especially the new 865/875 p4 boards. Mushkin hasn't given me any problems, and has lived up to all expectations. But all that depends. Just choose any of these brands and you are good to go, none of them 'suck'.

Basically the best PC2700 ram you can get would be Samsung True PC2700. It WILL run the tightest timings possible, is cheap, and if you ever decide to OC you will more than likely hit 200mhz fsb.

The Crucial PC2700 I got a few weeks back was actually Samsung. I used the memory finder and chose the Asus A7N8X board and got Samsung - instead of the Infineon like they sent me a few weeks prior to that when I chose an older MSI board.

any brand name should be fine.

Corsair, Mushkin, Kingston, Samsung

I've had Kingston and Samsung and both great... (Kingston rocks!)

Mushkin is good but their price / performance ratio is awful. Stick with some good Corsair memory and you will not regret it.

Yeah Mushkin prices are usually nuts. They do have random deals from time to time that make their prices really great though, plus that 10% off coupon.
