Hey guys,
A friend and I are heading out to Fenway to catch a game in September (flying out of LAX). Does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay? How is the public transportation out there?
Update (9/18/2008):
I ended up staying at a hostel for two nights with my friend for $43 a night per person. It was a lot like a dorm room (in size and feel) with 3 bunk beds in very limited space. It was on the corner of Hemenway and Boylston so it was REALLY close to Fenway, which was perfect for us. The last night I was there I crashed at a friends apartment which was right across the street from Fenway too.
We visited Fenway for a tour and a ball game (almost did Saturday's double header, but decided to use the time to explore more of the city), the Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, Newbury street, Museum of Fine Art, Sam Adams Brewery, some local parks around Fenway/Northeastern, a few bars along the street, and I love the subway! I wish southern california had an extensive one that allowed us to walk around more instead of having to drive everywhere.
All in all, Boston seemed a lot smaller than I originally thought, the weather was very unpredictable but mellowed out as I was leaving, and the people there are really friendly and helpful. I want to come back for the winter and experience some city snow. Am I crazy?
