I just ordered and received a K&N filter for my truck from here. The price was cheaper than anywhere else I looked. Also, they have free shipping, with a standard $6 handling fee per order (heavy/oversize items are extra). Even with the handling charge, the K&N filter was about $16 cheaper than if I had bought it locally from Autozone or O'Reilly. I looked at some other accessories, and they seemed to be cheaper than jegs, autoaccessory.com, and others. I ordered on Monday afternoon, and got it Thursday. I had emailed them questions about some mudguards, and they got back to me a couple of hours. They are not listed in resellerratings, and seem pretty new (my PO was below 400), so ymmv.

Here is their address:

Autocom Performance Parts
1642 Stony Brook Drive
Salinas, CA 93906
(831) 444-0790

However, the filter I ordered shipped out of Kansas City. It looks like they are a front end to take orders, that are then drop-shipped from warehouses. Also, the invoice I got said you have to call them for returns, and they will send you a mailing label to return it to the right company.

Well, seems for common cheapo stuff like oil & air filters for older models cars seem quite high: 91 honda - $35 for an air filter and $12 for oil filter seems steep to me. Although, I didn't reconize the manufactures - maybe they are performance parts ?

seem like they have very good price.

Look at this part number 22285. Does this look like an oil filter? LOL

$148.75 but it look kinda like part of the engine.

Here is the direct Link. If it works that is.

I guess this is what race car use.

dxpaap - It does seem like they only carry performance parts for common replacement items like filters.

Btw, if you go to www.autoaccessories.com and search for parts, it uses the same search engine (same warehouses???), but the prices are a lot higher.

Pretty much all filters flow about the same when brand new, but paper filters start to clog up in less than a 1000 miles, while a gauze filter like the K&N still flows pretty well after a few thousand miles.

Nothing is really going to help a little 4 banger that much, but a high flow muffler might make it sound a bit better.

This will give your ranger some pep. Don't think it will help in the gas mileage though.

nice find. It sounds like you should change your air filter frequently. Is there a general rule as to how often?

RuffRyder1672 - Check your owner's manual for the maintenance schedule. Most vehicles are around 30K miles, depending on driving conditions. The K&N filter is washable. You buy a recharge kit for around $17, and wash/re-oil the filter every 15K miles. The filter is guaranteed to last 1 million miles.

Yeah that was me, I left the group shortly after the Iraq war started. I got my marching orders to go over there and was getting tired of hearing all the "anti-bush, anti-usa" crap from some of the regulars in the group, not what i needed to hear right before i was going to leave. Needless to say I packed all my crap into storage, kissed my girlfriend goodbye and got 1/3 of the way to the circus and got sent back home. Guess it wasn't my time to go. I have approx 98 days to go before I start clearing my unit and taking off my uniform for the last time. Its been a long 10 years and I'm definately ready to be a civilian again.
I haven't really kept up with anyone. I did email pixelman and uhlmers once or twice.
here is their old website http://www.bung.nl/

Most people seem to replace their paper filters every 15K. At 15K they can be pretty bad. Recarge kits are $10 at the auto parts stores. Be sure not to over oil the filter or oil can screw up your MAF sensor.

If it's just an air filter it's probably not going to do that much. With K&N's you also have to oil the filter to keep it running smoothly, if you oil it too much you can screw up your MAF sensor.

If you want to increase horsepower and possibly gas mileage then you'd probably want to look into an intake system instead of just an airfilter. The intake will give your truck a deeper sound in the engine and allow for more air to pulled into the engine, potentially giving you greater power and possibly even better gas mileage.

Just don't expect miracles. Usually 1-2MPG and 5-8hp is the max that you should expect.

It's a fun thing to tinker with though.
